Get him loaned out to Morton, he cal learn alot from Efe, mostly to do the opposite but he'd learn a lot

 

I'd like him to get a taster of first team football here before going on loan next season. Maybe to another SPL side.

 

He won’t get it here. 5 first team appearances he can’t play for the B team.

 

100% needs a loan, he’s definitely in line for a shot with the first team but then depends how Ange wants them coached. O’Dea and McManus doing a really good job with the B side now.

 

Totally agree. It all comes from the manager down. Ange over the summer implemented that Sir Alex Ferguson strategy, that from the first team down through the U/age's everyone uses the same structure and systems, so that gives coaches a framework and means that players are able to slot in more easily when asked to make the step up to the next level. Like anything it takes a bit of time for these changes to take effect as players adapt but once that trickles down it's evident get to see those benefits for the club as a whole, if it is implemented right and have the right people in place, such as McManus and O'Dea.

Having Stephen McManus move from first team duties to oversee this has proven to be a really good idea. The guy rose through the academy and he made it, not just to the first team but all the way to being the captain. He knows every step of what it takes and no doubt Ange values his work, his opinions in how players are progressing and who deserves a taste of the first team to take that next step.

To be fair, Van Dijk strutted about looking uninterested at times whilst he was here too. Lawal doing the same for the B team while sitting top of the league just suggests to me that he needs tested at a far higher level.

The chasm between first team standards and lowland league is one of the biggest difficulties we have in bringing through youth players successfully.

According to Ben Quinn he went straight to the B teams match after making his debut so certainly doesn't sound like he's uninterested. And doubt Ange would be handing out debuts to youngsters that weren't putting in the effort.

Hope he gets a long term deal and starts to get more game time.

The lack of a proper reserve league is a problem for development. I've watched a lot of Lawal - always watch the B team matches so far as reasonably possible - and I thought he looked an obvious class above the rest.

 

As if AP would have him anywhere near the first team if he had a * attitude.
