Disappointed

Mainly due to our player trading model isn’t exactly shining through with the pathetic fee but also due to the fact we seem too bullish to give the guy a deserved pay rise and are happy to accept a pittance

 

I’m not clogging the thread with a banal argument on Tierney’s role in Arsenal steamrolling to the title.

Just accept Lawwell routinely handed star players over at a pittance, and isn’t the Daniel Levy-like negotiator many claim he is.

 

Best case scenario he knocks back Japan and comes back to sign the deal that’s on the table

No serious club would deliberately sabotage themselves like this in the middle of the season so we can only assume we have a top quality replacement already lined up and ready to hit the ground running.

It looks pretty obvious that he's desperate to go. He isn't Ange's main man whether anyone likes it or no....and clearly he doesn't. I understand it..

I personally think he should've been given more starts and game time in general but Ange doesn't. He wants to move. Ange seems comfortable with him moving. He wants possibly one more big deal and to be the main man somewhere..

Sabotaging ourselves would be bringing no one in to replace him. I guarantee we will..

 

I must be an extreme minority who isn't overly fussed with the fee and Giakoumakis leaving

Whether it be a loan in (with or without option to buy) or a permanent signing, I've no doubt we will be getting in a suitable replacement.

Perhaps there is an element to me that I'm also trying to justify the fee being what it is because of a mixture of his age and overall career.

I mean if he's desperate to go and Celtic are happy to accept that type of fee, you'd think a host of clubs at all levels would be well aware of his availability and would want the top scorer...as much as celtic have developed a relationship with teams in Japan the face he could be going that way suggest to me where he's rated within the radius of European football.

He's been a fantastic servant for the time he's been here but we move on.

 

Tierney fee, Dembele fee etc if you want to be closer in time if it makes you feel better

Yeah we got much more than we did for Wanyama and VVD. We started building up a decent reputation from selling the likes of Wanyama and VVD so could start demanding higher fees. Unless our players put in decent displays in Europe it can be difficult to command billions

In his last two seasons Giakoumakis has been the top goalscorer in Holland and the top goalscorer in Scotland.

Replacing that in the middle of a season, with a transfer pitch that says 'we already have a number 1 that's why the last guy left', doesn't bode well.

For this not to be disastrous this better be a very very good replacement. A Bayo/Bangura/Klimala project isn't going to cut it.
