4-4-2 is thus, simpler and more likely. In Scotland, we often don't need a 3. midfielder when one full-back can tuck in at any time.

Which is why I don't see it happening. Ange has bought players for his set up, and we would certainly lose something by trying to shoehorn them into a different formation.

I trust the manager and his formation if he wants to play 4-3-3 that’s his prerogative we call say what we like at the end of the day he’s can what he pleases and has earned all our backing. He spoke highly of GG, Ange doesn’t seem the type of manager to guarantee any player game time tbh with you.

Giakoumakis has not been getting rotated with Kyogo for certain games either, like he was last year.

He has been getting severely restricted game time to fifteen minutes here and there, with Kyogo starting practically every game now, even to games like at Ibrox away and the Cup Semi yesterday.

Important games where you would have thought GG's physicality and strength, would have been more suited for the occasion and conditions.

It's almost like he has been getting punished for asking for a better contract.

No way would I change our formation just to accommodate Giakoumakis. He's a useful rotation player, but I think he's massively overrated tbh. He's a terrific athlete (=strong, quick), he always plays hard, but he's a very limited footballer (=first touch, dribbling, passing, ball technique in general).

Almost committed a penalty late in the game yesterday. Not sure whether it was a penalty, but he gave the ref a decision to make. He then scored a tap in and became a hero. In an alternate universe, he's the reason Kilmarnock forces an overtime.

We don’t know if he doesn’t train well or anything we don’t see what goes on behind closed doors could be more to it. He offers something different I’m not against that at all I just trust the manager and his decisions.

GG only played as much last year as Kyogo was injured in my opinion he would have played the same role if Kyogo wasn’t injured.

we can all have an opinion but at the end of the day the manager picks the team and I trust his decisions

I think you can rule out training as an issue, Starfelt and other Celtic players have said recently that Giakoumakis
has been working and training very hard behind the scenes.

I'm leaning towards this being a Greek battle of wills between the manager and GG, which to my mind, is detrimental to the club and the support.

I don't give any manager a free pass, they all have to earn their corn and keep their standards very high.
Having a public wrangle or spat with a club player is not a good look for the club, and this smacks of a battle of egos.

Ange has earned his corn and keeps our standards extremely high if you listen to everything he says about our evolution etc so that’s a stupid thing to say there this is type of talk you get on KDS without thinking properly.

Others players aren’t exactly going to throw a teammate under the bus are they that would cause much more issues? You never really see a teammates out each other publicly again that’s a bizarre statement to make.

I cant see there being a rift between the player and the manager especially when Ange has been going over to him and hugging him after the games.
Yes i would say Ange would maintain his professionalism but its still a very public gesture and one i wouldnt imagine would happen if things were frosty between the two.
I dont think GG can be blamed for wanting a better contract at this stage in his career and given that he has been good for us when asked.

Or maybe GG just wants to be the main striker, playing every match, and earn a lot more money, and we can't guarantee either?

I’d be annoyed if we weren’t making a serious effort to try and keep him.

Ange has talked about not wanting players that don’t want to be here, but I don’t think that should mean we wave goodbye to a player at the first sign of them being unhappy.

He's a good player but we can't go pandering to squad player to have them on +20k a week.. he's got around 3 years left on his deal. Move him on for the right money and get in a replacement. It's clear as day that all parties are accepting he's leaving bar a few on talk Celtic

I’ll miss him if he goes. He just brings something different to the attack (as many have said). Hopefully this can be resolved. I’m not overly convinced he wants to leave either, i can’t help but get the feeling he’s got a greedy agent, don’t get me wrong i’m no an expert, but he just doesn’t look like someone who’s thrown in the towel at the club.

3 years left on his deal
    Top goal scorer last season
A different option to the other forwards we have

I think it’s a bad move to let him go. I can understand from the players point of view why he might be frustrated - wages not on par with others, lack of game time etc

But those are frustrations that we can alleviate. Give him more money (within reason) and I think he deserves more game time but obviously it’s Ange who makes that call.

I’d like to see both of them on the pitch together more often. GG leading the line with Kyogo in the 10. We should be able to do that against 70% of the teams in the league, especially at home.

I think he needs to swap his current agent with Gerry McGuire to deal with Lawell if he's got anything to do with the negotiations

His agent isn't GREEDY for trying to nail down the best outcome he can for his client. It's literally HIS ONLY JOB! This is just horse trading at this point, and the usual brinkmanship. I've seen literally NOTHING from either GG or his agent that isn't the norm regarding contract negotiation, or that's any way out of order.

And that’s our problem going forward. Ange is being successful playing one striker. Kyogo is number one. Any new striker or GG would have to displace him and if they do is Kyogo then unhappy?
