Have any of the Irish boys seen John Patrick play? 6’4 central midfielder, 19, plays for Getafe came through the Real Madrid youth system who represents Ireland at youth level. He was born in Spain

Wow, he looks class. Would be ideal for us but I suspect at that age already capped by Sweden he'll be destined for one of the big five leagues.

He was getting top reviews at the end of last season when Malmo had injuries and he got put in. He was seen as a bright spark in a terrible season for Malmo in the league.

What position is he? Looks like a 6 in a lot of the clips.

He’s played both as the deepest defensive midfielder and also as more of a box to box CM. Given his age he is young enough to probably shape either way.

I have not seen that much of him but I would say his main strengths at the moment are his physical development for a 18 year old. He’s tall, strong, Excellent stamina and has good pace. He is also good when he turns over play at driving at the opposition and carrying the ball.

His passing is decent and particularly quick short passing exchanges to aid his driving runs.

If he was in our team he would probably be well suited to the Hatate role I think but that’s just my opinion. You could also play him as part of a double pivot instead of the single we play with.

Are you a fellow Swede, or live here? Or just follow Malmö?

No during lockdown I took a liking to a podcast run by two English guys called the Nordic Football Podcast, which they run during the league season. One of the guys is big on Norway and the other is big on Sweden and used to be an analyst for a few clubs over there.

They give a good overview of the teams in the league and players to keep an eye on. It caught my interest as it’s a region I feel we should sign more players from as a lot of good players are produced and prices are affordable (mainly) although they have shown signs of increasing.

It just seems a pretty natural transition given the physical nature of football in both leagues, climate and reasonably short distance between the countries. Plus we seem a good club for players to take the next step before going to an EPL etc.

Another factor I think is the overhyped nature of big league football now puts me off being honest compared to say 10-15 years ago.

Posted in the Non Media Rumours that some KDS carrot had heard we were looking at Walid Cheddira.

Looked him up and he seems the business, absolutely ripping up Serie B with some big clubs sniffing around. Big powerful * who also looks skillful as *.

Never noticed him, mate, but his career seems to be really taking off after a few years in the lower leagues in Italy. This would be the time to take a chance on him.

He looks class and would be a good replacement for GG.

Someone I am not sure if they would be good enough but looks very similar to Cho in style and skill set is Taichi Hara, 23 year old Japanese striker on the books of Deportivo Alaves. He got loaned to STVV in Belgium and done quite well last year but doesn’t get a sniff in Spain.

He’s around 6’3 mobile, good in the air and decent with the ball at his feet and linking up.
Maybe more a third striker option than ready to replace GG but the similarities to Cho in how he plays made me think of him as alternative. An added bonus his contracts up in the summer.

Only thing is he would probably be away for the African Nations which is a pain

Was mostly a sub, came.on and hassled Spain a lot and was sent off in extra time against Portugal but almost scored in both those games and caused a nuisance in a team that was not dominant

Cheddira is the type of quality that would take us up another level imo. Would be all for this.

I wouldn't go that far, all I've seen of him was the world cup and he was a good nuisance striker against more dominant teams, how that will translate to when we are dominant for the majority of games I don't know. His previous experience is all lower league Italy with most of it in the 3rd division.

You could be right, but he will get snapped up by some decent club eventually as he has started to bloom recently.

I think if he continue like he have recently, he will become one who could take us up but its obviously a gamble.

Aye it's not one I'd baulk at but not one that screams superstar, not sure if I'd make him a primary focus for us but at this stage it looks like we're looking to alternates now
