I am not convinced that this is an accurate account of how things stand. The Mainz Director told Derek Rae they are out so why mention them anymore?

I also can’t see us offering 50% of future sale if we are that’s insane. If that is all true his team will just kick our offer out and go with the Minnesota one.

How would that 50% thing work? Would it be something like if we sell him for £10 million, they get half, but if we sell him for £15 million they still only get £5 million?

 

Hmm true but wasn't that the case with literally all our transfers? Let's be honest, the majority of us know little about our transfers. I knew about Jota because I seen him play for Vallodolid and I watch all Spanish Football. I didn't think he would fit in here. Think there's a guy on here who watches a lot of Japanese football and knew about the Japanese lads. Either way, we all kinda guess based on what we see on youtube.

For example, you're absolutely convinced by Laidouni(rightly so in my opinion) but you've probably watched him 2 or 3 times. I think Cho is an upgrade on GG technically. I don't think that's really up for debate. We all know GG isn't good with the ball at his feet. Love him to bits and I want him to stay but I think the obvious effort to leave the club and the issues we have had with that in the past(see Eddy/Ajer) and the fact we can potentially make good money from him, while bringing in someone younger who has a good scoring record seems like a good deal, especially if we can Cho in for cheaper than we sell GG for.

 

The thing is: there's only been 3 clubs so far with actual interest in the player. That's the reality of both Jo and his agent. Jo's father said the priority was game time. Even if Dortmund (biggest club ever linked with a move) had bid, then getting actual game time would be impossible.

He's most likely waiting for us to sell Giakoumakis. Either that, or we are offering him to be a clear second choice to Furuhashi, with no guaranteed starts per season. If Mainz have pulled out, he's faced with 2 bad choices (from his POV)- limited playing time, or a move away from Europe. But then he should actually take Minnesota on a short length contract.

If I'm wrong, and he wants money, then he has an offer giving him that, too. Somehow, I don't think he'll go to Minnesota, though.

 

50% of any fee up until £5.3M is what I seen.

I thought that meant if we sold for £10m they would get 50% of the £5.3m so £2.65m and we would have the remaining £7.35m. Could be wrong though, I’m sure someone on here will know.
