Not sure I'd believe salary figures from a site like that. Where would they retrieve that data from?

Personally I think we are making a big mistake letting him go, he is an excellent goal scorer with a physical presence - he offers something completely different from Kyogo. It would be different if EPL clubs were coming in for him and there wasnt much we could do to persuade him to stay but if its clubs like FC Midtjylland we should be more than capable of keeping him.

I dont know whats going on behind the scenes, maybe the guys attitude has been stinking and hes thrown the toys out of the pram because hes not getting much game time. Rightly Ange won't tolerate that but its a sad state of affairs, we are on the verge of losing a very good striker, not a good move in my opinion.

There's something rotten going on. His daft post with the ticking clock thing would have annoyed Ange.

I think what we’re seeing here is a change in direction at Celtic to try and get into a habit of selling players more regularly to keep things fresh.

We’ll keep buying gems young to sell on at huge profits, of course, but what about buying at 25/26 to sell at 27/28 for a smaller profit.

We get good experienced players in, they do a job and we get them out for a profit before they become stale on their last big contract.

I think GG and JJ are proof of concepts for this strategy. I don’t think the aim here is to make a huge £10m+ profit, just to make a tidy profit so we can comfortably spend more on a fresh replacement.

I think it’s a great idea personally and I hope it works. If we get greedy here and fail to shift them on due to wanting huge amounts then we’ll be in trouble.

Not really sure thats the case at all. If that were the case we would be moving more players on for smaller profit. There would be no shortage of takers if we wanted to move a few of our first team on for small profit.

It seems more like GG and JJ want to move, as opposed to your idea that we want to sell them because of the profit.
I dont think GG is happy coming off the bench and probably believes he has more to offer, given the goals he has scored for us.
JJ has shown ambition and after playing with croatia, probably believes/wants to play at a higher level than the SPL. Neither situation is ideal right now as both players have a lot to offer, and has in essence forced our hand. Ange knows its better to capitalise and get as much as we can for them now than to lose value for wantaway players down the line.

I’m not saying every player is suddenly for sale to make a small profit or that’s the main motivation for moving player on, so that wouldn’t be the case at all. That’s a misunderstanding of what I’m saying.

I understand the theory this is all about game time for GG, but it’s been heavily rumoured he’s on a lesser contract and there has been contract negotiations spoken about, why bother talking contracts on a 5 year 28 year old if this is all about game time?

I suspect the difference we are seeing is we’ve brought in Giakoumakis on a lower wage with the promise he’ll be sold for a reasonable fee or his contract increased. I would say that selling someone as good as GG for around £6m or so while doing well in their prime is quite rare for Celtic.

We wouldn’t normally risk losing a guaranteed goalscorer that can bully the Huns. We’d usually see a reasonable contract put in front of him and that would be it. We seem very comfortable with moving players on.

I’m sure Ange has alluded to the fact we would see players turned over more regularly and we are being much more active in the transfer market. I think it’s a good idea to be honest. If we can make it work it will take us up a level.

No more staleness in the squad or big overhauls every 3 seasons. No more losing players for pennies because we have no confidence in replacing them (Boyata) or we are going for Dembele/Tierney money (Ntcham).

Even if he does go, I hope the big man gets a few goals first, wasn't great in the previous games but I thought he was solid when he came on, another day he goes home with at least 2 goals.

Tried hard. And it just wouldn't go in. He needs a start more than a new contract. If things get smoothed over, and we keep him as our target man/poacher, I'd be okay with it. But I'd like the decision to be made by both parties quickly.

    Don't want him to leave.

So * powerful when on song. Offers something we haven't had since Sutton and Hartson IMO. Perhaps JVoH but don't think he was as powerful.
