Southampton will travel north to watch Daizen Maeda in next week's Viaplay Cup semi-final at Hampden.

The Saints are considering their transfer options this month and Football Scotlandunderstands they have a shortlist of players they are keeping an eye on in Scotland. Scouts from the Premier League club will watch a number of different games and players but we understand Celtic's Japanese attacker, 25, is high on the list. His performances at the World Cup as well as his stats at Parkhead has triggered interest.

It's unclear whether or not Celtic or Maeda would even entertain a potential switch to Saints considering they are among the clear favourites to be relegated to the Championship in May. The attacker has seven goals from 31 appearances in all competitions this season.

We bought him for £1.6. I’ll take £15 million, no less. He’s only 25, so still a few more years until he’s at his peak at 28-29.
