Reflecting on the game we should have buried them that first half an hour or so. We got in front and were getting the ball through there press with ease leaving Hatate and O’Riley on the ball in acres of space. Maeda had Tavernier all over the shop.

Between the Maeda ball across the box that forest should be there to tap in, Kyogo’s fresh air swipe and there was a situation where Hatate was on his own about 20 yards out and Maeda had got the run on Tavernier yet again into the box if Hatate plays the pass which was a straight forward one Maeda has another one on one with McGregor. We should have got a second goal from those scenarios and their heads would have sunk.

When they got into the game it was the same old tactic Beale and co used agaisnt Lennon and Rodgers. Basically try mark up McGregor so there is nobody on the ball who can pass out well. It didn’t work when Taylor was on as he can do it from the inverted position but Juranovic being all right foot caused an issue here.

Also not having a natural ball carrier on either wing constrained us. Maeda is great at pressing and in behind but not so much at giving him the ball to beat a man and get the team up the park, Forrest was woeful. Neither full back really offered any ball carrying ability in that manner either. We got bogged down and the other two CMs dropped deeper and all this led to Kyogo being completely isolated.

I am hopping Iwata and perhaps other forward options to come in to the team may help this. As when Mooy came on he was able to drop in alongside McGregor and find space to get the ball forward. Also to shut down the central space they completely give up the wide areas and having a Jota or even Haksabanovic available who can get on the ball and make something happen changes the effectiveness of such an approach.

    The Sun reports:

A STASH of “potentially dangerous” items was discovered inside Ibrox Stadium hours before Monday’s Old Firm clash. Cops at the powderkeg fixture found the haul, including a baseball bat, in a bin.

It came to light after members of ultras fan group the Union Bears were given early access to Rangers’ ground to place banners ahead of the 12.30pm kick-off.
They were thrown out by police and club staff after a “cursory search” revealed the items.

A source told The Scottish Sun: “There were about a dozen items including a baseball bat. Who knows why they were there or who put them there but it’s obviously very disturbing.Cops and club staff deserve credit for making the find and acting so swiftly.”

Two men — part of the group allowed in early — were later charged with minor drug offences.
Superintendent Emma Croft said last night: “Police engaged with a group of supporters given access to Ibrox in advance of the Rangers v Celtic fixture.

“During a cursory search, a number of potentially dangerous items were found secreted in the stadium.”

Not a peep about Goldshun's deliberate hand ball on Ref watch. Further proof that Scottish football on SKY is controlled by a mutant hun *.

As @Double Dutch said in the Bernabei thread..

Pretty much confirmed a few of our players had the virus and were struggling..

    Juranovic, Bernabei, Jota etc..

Makes sense why we were under par in that game..

Didn't take from what Ange said that Bernabei or Juranovic where ill at all. Did I miss that part?

Ange seemed to suggest he played Juranovic because he was the WC form player but will play Bernabei tomorrow now. I assume off how bad Juranovic turned out to be.

yes they both had the virus, and yes Ange said he decided to put on JJ instead of Bernabei due to being more experienced.

Splendid analysis sir. Totally agree. Taylor such a pivotal part in our system. Also for all the huns giving it the 'we dominated them' patter, for that first half hour it felt like watching a European game against a real top outfit, where they would just pass it around our attempts to press, but in reverse. As you say we got through them with ease. Repeatedly
