Weird thread to bump of a player currently in our squad? I think you need to stop being weird.

Ah ok, I haven't even seen him in training videos or pictures for months.

 

Usually ones like this get bumped in quiet times

I think at the end of this season, he'll still have 3 years left on his contract.

So will he stay for job security, or will he leave to get more playing time.

I think if he sees out his contract, then his playing days are pretty much over, so I'm hoping he decides to go whilst he can still play at a decent level.

I wonder if he'd fancy a crack at trying to keep Everton up ?

 

2 years, he had a 4 year contract and signed start of last season.

 

Why would Everton want him though? He clearly isn't the player he used to be anymore.

 

That makes a slight difference, but not much

 

I'm sure Everton will think they're too good for him, but the table says otherwise.

I think he's still better than the Championship, but if an EPL team fighting relegation don't want him, then he's probably looking at China USA or middle east.

Other wise he's just looking at the bench. The best we can offer him is he's ahead of Abildgaard. But so are half the * ball boys.

 

No insight but based on the chat around him,

-he is never far away from his next injury.
-he has had EPL pay days for a large part of his career.
- He has a decent contract with us both in terms of money and length.
- He bought a big house recently back up here and wanted back up to Scotland.

In short he probably couldn’t believe his luck when we called and offered a four year deal. Unless he gets a nostalgic urge to play football he’ll sit back, train away when not injured and get paid.

We can only hope the 4th year is an option like Bitton, Julien and Rogic etc. I am not having a go at McCarthy as it’s not his fault we were so stupid to offer him what we did.

 

We've already seen that when he is fit he will get game time, so at least it's not a total Bobo Balde under Strachan situation
