Well, it's obvious Mooy has to be the deep-lying MF, and Maeda needs space to work best, and enjoys helping his team defend. We aren't a counterttacking team, not even in Europe. I'd kill to strike a deal with Moriyasu. He gets to manage us in Europe, but learns how to break defensive teams from Ange. Both could fix each other's flaws.

Both their national teams play very different systems to us.

Makes me wonder how our better players would do at the world cup if their countries qualified or their managers weren’t wanks and actually got picked

Yep, we have wonderful human beings at the club. I felt Maeda's pain and Juranović's joy, and this is so touching.

Now Juranovic will have to deal with Vinicius Jnr a third time this year.

Yes. However, does he wear contact lenses or not when on the field ? If not, does it have an effect on him when attempting to make contact with the ball ?

At the FIFA World Cup 2022, the Japan national team lost to Croatia after a penalty shootout, finishing the tournament in the last 16.
Japan representative Daizen Maeda answered the interview.

Q: How do you feel now after the dawn?
Maeda: I can't easily sort it all out, but the next fight is in four years, so I'll practice more and more to find out what I'm lacking in four years from now. I want to be able to hit you.

Q: What exactly are you lacking in?
Maeda: I think we could have won the match yesterday if we scored two or three points, not just one.

Q: You started three games at the World Cup, but what kind of World Cup was it for you?
Maeda: I think I was able to stand on that pitch with the support of many people, so I stand on the pitch with gratitude to all those people. I was going to win, but I think it's really a shame that we didn't win.

Q: Do you have any feedback from competing against the top
players in the world? Maeda: I think there are some aspects of speed, such as the pressure from the front line, that are competitive against international opponents. I think it would be good to extend the goal.

Q: What have the last four years been like? What do you want your next four years to be?
Maeda: I didn't even think about entering this World Cup first, so next time I want to be conscious of the next four years.

Q: What is your enthusiasm for the next stage?
Maeda: There are many people from Japan who have come to Qatar to support us. It seems to be said that we want to do our best so that we can be.

Q: What kind of activity do you want to show at that place?
Maeda: I think it would be good if I could contribute to what the team is aiming for, not just me.

You keep suggesting this as if it isn't one of the most ridiculous things ever uttered on this forum.

As you've probably seen today, defensive football is sometimes necessary and works. I suppose we could try tempting Zlatko Dalić instead?:101:

Don't wanna go overboard about our strikers as Kyogo did score last night.....but I'd be tempted to go with Maeda at the huns..

You look at his pressing and the panic he caused at the world cup. The centre halves and keepers were petrified of him. Could you imagine it at theirs?

    A front 3 of

    Jota
    Maeda
    Abada

I'm no sure Ange would go for it....but I would right now..
