He came in and said his master plan was to ban tomato sauce. Of course he didn't get enough respect.

That's like saying your master plan is to get the players to wear suits. What sort of an * would say that?

    Oh hang on a minute...

I think he also wasn’t overly keen on chips either but as you say what kind of * would just jump in and spout * in an attempt to look smart.

The problem with Deila was that he was supposed to be our number two, but then in true Lawwell fashion, he ended up being our manager as we probably didn’t have a backup plan to the manager that knocked us back. Pretty sure it was Keane if I remember correctly.

One thing I'll say for Lawwell is that he might actually pull them up for all the cheating.

I agree change was unavoidable and the board had to sell and spend regardless of who became manager and they knew that but to say it has nothing to do with Ange is actually an insult to the big man.

I'm not so sure about that, I remember interviews from him at the start of last season bemoaning the slowness of transfers and stating that he clearly wasn't making his case strongly enough to the board the urgency for players coming in. To me it sounded like he accepted the job and once in felt he had a stronger bargaining position with them than he had before accepting the job.

How much of that was about highlighting Mckay's deficiencies in his role, or whether it really was aimed at the board in general is something I guess we'll never know for sure.

Dom McKay was a Rugby man who didn't like the limelight. In other words, the job was too big for him.....particularly a full rebuild under a new manager..

As soon as he was gone and Nicholson came in....we were all singing off the same hymn sheet..

Just to have a stab at answering this....

List of transfers which I think will be classified as Lennon’s: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/celtic-glasgow/transfers/verein/371/saison_id/2013

List of transfers which have to have been done under Ronnie only: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cel...371/plus/?saison_id=2014&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

Then list of transfers done during the 15/16 season: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cel...371/plus/?saison_id=2015&pos=&detailpos=&w_s=

Reading it back, I would say that makes for grim reading, no way did the board (Lawwell) do anywhere near enough to support a manager who is considered as being more progressive compared to guys like Lennon...those transfers are horrendous and it is no wonder why Ronnie's tenure was just so flat and uninspiring. They done * all for him.

I'm not arguing he'd had done any better if they had back him and helped bring in players more suitable to his idea on how to play, but they've certainly made him implement it with one hand tied behind his back with notorious shitebags not wanting to put the effort into training, so unsurprisingly get booted out sharpish the second Rodgers walks into the joint.

Peter Lawwell is back at Celtic in a new role after stepping down as chief-executive in June 2021

Charlie Nicholas has taken aim at Peter Lawwell in the wake of his return to Celtic, and is adamant that the majority of the Hoops fan base do not want him.

On Friday it was announced that Lawwell will take over as the new chairman at the club following Ian Bankier's decision to step down. Lawwell had previously served as Celtic's chief executive for a lengthy spell between 2003 and 2021, before retiring from the role.

But Nicholas, who won two league titles and a League Cup during his time as a player at Parkhead, insists Lawwell's return is a backwards move for the club, and also insisted that the 63-year old needs to shoulder a huge share of the blame for Celtic not winning 10 Premiership titles in a row.He told Scottish Express Sport : "I'm sure the majority of the Celtic supporters will not be welcoming him back. It is a negative in my opinion, although everyone will know I haven't been a Lawwell fan for a long time. He had too much of an ego and it is too much about him.

Charlie Nicholas has Celtic transfer fear and hopes Ange Postecoglou doesn't share Brendan Rodgers' frustration.

"It seems to me they are trying to get over the burden of messing up with the 10-in-a-row scenario. Now that has all gone and they can get Peter back in because it wasn't his fault. Well whose fault was it? It seems like it is a camouflage, like it never happened.

"Well if you know your history it was down to him more than Neil Lennon or anybody else who fell asleep at the wheel. It is now as if he is back again with a new car. We'll start the journey again and he will get credit for Celtic winning the league or the treble. The chairmanship, though, is different from being the chief executive but he is still there, with a voice."

Yes, the man who refused to vote ‘No’ on Sevco getting direct entry to the SPL until it was decided will be rushing to pull them up on their cheating.

In agreement about the board sentiment to be honest.

If we're being sensible, it was very clear they KNEW they were up * creek. The GB's protests were ramping up, the stands were full of vitriol against the club, and they would've been wholly aware that heads were about to roll for the absolute calamity of that season.

If there's one thing this BOD likes, it's anonymity.

The green light came down from Don Desmond, and trigger man Lawell was sent to put bullet in his bestie Lennon. Let's also not forget DD was a huge fan of Lennon too.

It took them a while to click on, but we are currently getting what we've asked for, for YEARS. A proactive, not reactive transfer policy, and a manager who gets to build his own team, without the CEO headhunting "talent" the manager doesn't want.

The return of Lawell, understandably has people bricking it, that once again we're reverting to reactive transfers and Draconian impediments that hamper the managers ability to his job.

Personally I think the BoD, and by that I mean Dermot Desmond, has finally cottoned on that fans have more power than expected, and by extension, the success of Ange and a content fan base, means a quiet life for them.

    But as always, fingers crossed.
