That’s all part of the learning curve, for him as well as the players.

Deploying all out high press, quick passing and movement should just be a single string to the bow. In fairness there are plenty of examples when we’ve controlled a game out as well it’s just about adapting that approach up against world class players and teams.

We’ll definitely get better, I’m looking forward to seeing us have another crack once we’ve tied up another league title personally.

We competed tonight we had 14 attempted and 8 on target that’s competing. Rather that than meekly greet to the media like sum.

On another subject funny your back after a Celtic defeat

I’m getting sick of comments that he only plays one way, yes when we have the ball he wants us to be creative and attack, not pass it side ways in our own half. We also defend and try to hold shape when our play demands it you would think he fields 11 strikers the way the media report it.
2/3 quality signings will be make a huge difference for us in Europe next year.
When Ange came in we never believed we would win the league last season let alone be one of the most attacking teams in Europe.
I just hope we have him around for another couple of seasons.

Except, he does. When rumors of him coming began to circulate, and when he was appointed, people from Australia pointed out how he doesn't do defensive football, and always wants a high press.

His achievement in Scotland is praiseworthy, but there's no chance his tactics yield results in Europe.

Yes he has a philosophy to play one way and it starts with a high press defending, but we do defend, it’s not the one way I’m sick of its how he is portrayed that he is not defensive minded.

I am. Feel free to quote this if he gets results with his tactics (finishing 3rd in CL would count). I firmly believe it's impossible. I'd also be shocked if he sets us up to be defensive. Positively shocked.

I don't think it's impossible. Do need a favourable draw. Wasn't the worst draw this year but there are easier groups and we are defo due more good luck on that front.

Many have spoken that this draw we had gotten was very favourable. And we did poorly. Or rather, did like it was expected of a Pot 4 team.

Given that we had over 70 shots and scored 3 goals, the smart money is on us improving results next year. Of course that depends on the draw to a degree, but I think the idea that it's impossible to finish third with these tactics is nonsense when we were competitive in almost every game.

I see no reason why we could easily improve CL results.

So long as the magic is still there and we can continue to unearth newer talent that take us up a level.

I don't think it's that shocking or controversial to say that if we could source talents early in their career with the promise the like of Nkunku and Mudryk have shown...we'd have gotten 2nd place in this group.

Fact is, Celtic will struggle at this level for the foreseeable because its a double edged sword, if we were to find the guys we need, I'd wager they would get snapped up on average the following season...we would then be asking the Celtic scouting system to find an obscene amount of talent every year.

"I don’t fear losing our players. I see that as part of the process."

“If you look at clubs who do well at Champions League level that are our size, what do they do? They develop players, sell them on and replace them with better versions, hopefully. That is where our growth lies. It is part of the process. I don’t fear that. That has to happen for us to grow. We need to be bringing money in to be able to keep bringing better players to our football club.”

It's encouraging that he views it this way, as it seems like Lennon and Rodgers didn't

Makes you wonder where we'd be the now if we weren't stuck in growth purgatory for the past decade compared to some other clubs our size.

Good teams mix their tactics. Even a high-press, attacking football tactic can be countered and adapted to. It's happened to us after the first 50 minutes of the Real game, and will happen again next year.

Ange Postecoglou has been named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month for the September/October period, as the reigning champions established a four-point lead at the top of the table.

The award is based on the matches played during September and October as there were only two fixture rounds in September. It is also the Celtic manager’s second Manager of the Month award this season.

The Hoops picked up 18 points from the seven matches played during September and October, with wins over Rangers, Motherwell, St. Johnstone, Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian and Livingston.

The Australian manager picked up five Glen’s Premiership Manager of the Month awards last season and was also named the Glen’s Scottish Premiership Manager of the Season for 2021/22 in May.

Ange Postecoglou said: “I have been really pleased again with the consistency we have shown across the period, delivering a really high level of performance with excellent results.

“As always, we have faced a number of stiff tests in games but have ensured that we have stuck to our own path, followed our own processes and achieved excellent results.

'I am particularly pleased that so many different players across the whole squad have contributed so much across these important games.'

“Everyone at the Club again shares in this award and we now look forward to the remaining challenges before the break.”

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner the Loch Lomond Group, said: “This season is going to be different in terms of Glen’s Manager of the Month awards, given the break for the World Cup and the restricted league programme during September, but one thing that has not changed is Ange Postecoglou’s recent domination of this particular award.

“Celtic have had some tough Champions League fixtures to contend with over the past couple of months, but their league form has again been strong, and our voting panel were clear in their view that Ange and his coaching staff were worthy winners over the last two-month period.

“Significant wins over rivals Rangers, Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian have eased the disappointment of losing their 100 per cent league record at St. Mirren, and I send my congratulations once again to everyone at Celtic Park for what remains a tremendous start of the season.”

Celtic need to be "aggressive and agile" in the transfer market to become a competitive Champions League team, says boss Ange Postecoglou.

Celtic are top of the Scottish Premiership but endured a chastening experience in the Champions League and are now out of Europe altogether.

"Other clubs our size are very agile," Postecoglou said at the club's AGM.

"Every couple of years they regenerate. We need to push forward aggressively in the next two to three years."

The 5-1 loss to Real Madrid rounded off a group stage that saw Celtic go winless and finish bottom of the group.

They have failed to win in their last 10 Champions League matches and of his regular starters, only Callum McGregor and Joe Hart had played major minutes in Europe's elite competition before this season.

However, Postecoglou believes Celtic can catch up with the Champions League regulars despite usually having significantly lower spending power if they execute a clever transfer strategy.

The Australian has been successful in the market since he joined in 2021, with Portuguese winger Jota, United States defender Cameron Carter-Vickers and Japan forward Kyogo Furuhashi among the biggest recruitment hits.

"My aim is to keep improving. Never stand still. My ambition is to make us a Champions League club," he said.

"Hopefully as our players progress, and as players leave, hopefully we can bring in others and improve. I think bridging the gap between us and the elite in Europe is one we need to keep chipping away at.

"We can make gains by being aggressive and agile in the transfer market.

"I make the football vision clear and try to fit the business model around that. We need to maximise the greatest amount of revenue into the club."

Ange Postecoglou has warned players will need to be moved if Celtic are "to make gains" in the transfer market.

The Hoops strengthened further this summer by bringing in the likes of Aaron Mooy, Sead Haksabanovic and Moritz Jenz after previously ensuring they made the loan stays of Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda permanent. In the months since, the Parkhead side have dominated the Premiership as they aim to win a second successive title. However, they endured a tough time in the Champions League as they finished at the bottom of their group table with just two points.

And now, as Celtic begin looking ahead to the January transfer window and getting their plans in place, Postecoglou has revealed the club will have make different moves in the market to help in their long-term bid to build a squad capable of competing in the Champions League again next season.

Speaking at the club's AGM, the manager said: "The business and football side is aligned. I'll make my vision clear.

"Most of it centres around finances and we need to be there every year. We need to keep growing, we need to be aggressive with our approach.

"We need to to be aggressive and agile in the transfer market and we will need to move players around to make gains.

“We have to maximise our squad to get the greatest revenue for the club. I'm comfortable with that.

"It will be unsettling for you guys. You'll have favourite players but we need to be wise."
