Liberty for CR7 having to compete with Messi. Any other time in football history he'd have a great shout of being the best...up against Pele and Diego. There's an argument for all 3.

But wee Messi, he blows them all out the water. No one comes anywhere near him.

Would love him to win the World Cup.

It would reel like natural justice.

35 and a half and he’s still the most glorious player to watch in full flow.

He’* peak form at a perfect time but for me personally it feels like it’s being set up for a fall, I can’t see Argentina getting anywhere near to the World Cup unfortunately.

Really don't know. Did you see them batter Italy 3-0 few months ago at Wembley? They had some excellent players in their team. Messi, Romero, Martinez, Dybala, De Paul etc. If Messi can get a grip of games, they could do something.

They’re a good side in good form but it seems too perfect.

Probably the best team Argentina have had since he's played for them really, 2005-2010 but their team was mostly all old * like Ayala, Samuel, Zanetti, Veron, Cambiasso, Riquelme, Aimar, Crespo, Milito- good quality but no legs and too many guys over the hill.

2010-18 they were top heavy with Tevez, Aguero and Higuain who couldn't really play together and their defence and midfield was utter pish.

Now they have better balance although still not really a team you'd expect to win it, probably play something like

    Rulli
    Molina Romero Martinez Tagliafico
    Paredes
Di Maria De Paul Lo Celso
    Messi
    Martinez
Think they are at least 2 players away if they had Cancelo and Bernardo Silva instea of one of their full-backs and Lo Celso then you'd be thinking they are as good as anyone but their centre-backs aren't in their prime, full-backs average and midfield lacking a Bernardo/Modric/Verratti style guy.

Will need to defend for their lives and hope Messi is on fire and Martinez clinical.

I think Argentina have every chance, in fact they're who I'll be backing.

For me there isn't one standout international side right now so it comes down to form and momentum. Argentina have that right now, just like Italy did going into the Euros, and it seems like Messi has a point to prove with his recent upturn in form.

I'd * love for them to win it. The wee man is still head and shoulders above anything else on the planet and will be until the day he retires.

Another goal and assist for him today.

Neymar is looking on top form as well

You see PSG stats for the front 3 this season. * frightening.

Mbappe has 17 goals and 4 assists in 17 games

Neymar has 14 goals and 11 assists in 18 games

Messi has 12 goals and 14 assists in 17 games.

    * crazy numbers man.

    I really hope not.

Still the best player in the world and should be competing for major honours like the CL.

I don't like PSG much but now that Celtic are out I kind of feel myself wanting them to win it purely for Messi.

I agree. I don't want him to go back to Barcelona so would rather he stayed at PSG for one more year. I understand the potential lifestyle he can provide for his family in Miami but * me, he would be wasted going over there right now. He could still play another 2 years in Europe easily.
