can I have some of what your smoking:icon_mrgreen: The team was lacklustre in pre-season but Bobo was absolutely laughable. Its as well he is on a free because he halved his fee every time he played. Like Thommo, Bobo has been poor since Seville/his bumper contract. His inability to pass is an utter liability in a short ball team. The Bobo cult has grown in absentia.

I do agree that OD was also very dissapointing in pre-season and I think he will be loaned out or moved on shortly if we get anther cb in. He is another player whose cult is hard to understand - yes he had two great matches in the CL but I think he otherwise has looked shaky and at best would be a Mick clone in a year or two if given a run and allowed to learn by his mistakes but there isnt much point in that. I think its clear WGS thinks something similar.

Mick is limited but has some good qualities. Hinkel has been disapointing but you can see patchy quality there too and I think he may come good. Caldwell is the best CB at the club. Despite him formerly being blunder prone, I have thought that he has been our best CB for a long time.

thats what Bobo's optician sees when doing an eye examination on him:icon_mrgreen:.

I cant believe people dont see this for what it is - this is endgame hardball game of poker he is playing an its all about money.

You quote "Bobo's inability to pass". This is equalled only by Caldwells inability to defend.
    Our 2 CB's are muppetry.
Loovens and another will relace them with ease whereupon they will both find their level at Hearts/Killie/Aberdeen etc.etc.

Mind and send that smoke..? :icon_mrgreen::icon_mrgreen:

You obviously watched something different to me but hey that’s only a differing opinion.

Not smoking anything Keltoi, just not singling out a player to assassinate, for there pre-season performances. As almost every one of the squad to a man produced equally poor performances. In fact even the St Mirren and Dundee Utd games were poor and Balde was nowhere near the squad.

If you don’t like the guy for other than football reasons, then say so, don’t fabricate and single out one players performances, when the finger could easily be pointed at many others.

If it was not for Bobo there is a real possibility we would not have achieved the last three leagues championships. People forget too easily his contribution, that’s sad (granted last season was particulary limited, but IMV still important)

Do you honestly think that WGS is gonna drop the club captain? Come on seriously that just is not gonna happen.

Loovens also, not sure if he wil stay in the team. Although I would not see he is our best for a long time but he has improved dramatically in the last season. His last 6 months were pretty steady and his last 7 games were close to awesome. He has also started this season very well.

Imo we will not sign another CB and I dont think we need to either. A LB is a def for me and maybe a striker but not a pish striker someone with a bit of credibility

Are you having a laugh? What contribution? He played 2 games last year and 1 the year before and I think he got dropped after the home game against Motherwell the year before so would hardly call that a contribution

WGS´s first season he was dropped after the Artmedia game then brought back after the Motherwell game. He went on to be an almost ever present that season and helped WGS win his first League.

Second season once again Bobo found himself on the bench, our defence was a shambles. After 4 or 5 games Bobo was brought into the team and played for around 8 weeks until he injured his stomach then broke his leg. By that time it was almost Xmas and Rankers were miles adrift, league was won by Xmas., Celtic cantred to the league.

Last season, granted only a small contribution but still an important one none the less. We went 15 games without a clean sheet, after trying everything but playing Bobo we were still leaking at the back. The big man returned and immediately we achieved two clean sheets. However he was on a plane to play in the African cup of nations and Caldwell was re-instated. Bobo helped instil some confidence when the season looked very shaky, especially for our defenders, the rest as they say is history.

Granted he has not played a huge part in the last two seasons due to injury and not being considered when fit, but he has contributed to the cause whenever he has played.

However this is not a Bobo Balde history lesson.

My original point was too assassinate one player for a poor pre Season is hypocritical. As the whole team performed poorly not just one player throughout most of pre-season and in to the season proper, until the Falkirk game. (BTW Balde only played about 90 mins over 4 pre season games).

    I think most would agree.

funny enough I actually think bobo generally seems a lovely bloke, a real gent. However, I am down on him for two reasons:

    1. I dont rate him at all. I personally thought he was on a level of crapness well beyond the other players in pre-season. People have also forgotten what a bomb scare he always was.

2.His refusal to accept reality about his career here/his putting money above the normal sporting urge to play. He is already minted and would still make plenty if he moved to Birmingham, arguably more than 1 more year here. Sitting on a contract for three seasons when not wanted seems to be unique to Bobo and Thommo.

And what level above "bomb scare" is big Mick ? :43:

He could play for another 10 years (hopefully not with us) and still be unfit to polish Bobo's boots. With practice he may even be able to cut out a cross ball with his head.

If Balde goes ot birmingham it may make those who slated him think again.....this may only now be an offer at an acceptable level for him.

    Good luck Bobo

    Greed - pure and simple

Bobos prepared to damage his footballing career rather than leave Celtic without a payout. hes playing poker with Lawwell without an agent and its going to hurt him next season when noone comes for him on a free.

A decent servant to the club in his time but doesn't know how to behave. All that crap about loving the club and wanting an extension is just BS.
