The System is also seeing us ship goals which in turn is costing us games.
But we didn’t and still shipped goals, like Betis last season 2 nil up and then collapse.

Something has to change, it needs to change for us to progress.

Wither it’s getting the quality of player in, highly unlikely or change formation or tactics for Europe.

In order for tactics or formation to change, there would have to be a new manager. That's the bitter truth. Ange doesn't want to change. I'm sure we'll win the league and at least one cup season after season, as long as he is focused on this club. The problem? He's so single-minded that he has tactical tunnel vision. In Europe, that is costly.

I think we all need to step back a little ,and try to look at things in perspective reality, we have literally changed the whole team , we are using a new system with players who have very little if any experience in cl and European competition.
We are handicapped by our league and finances but we can all agree this is not as significant as some teams do go against the general rule of thumb , most usually having great academy and recruitment models built through time and are never ever diverted from while its bearing fruit .
So while I'm an advocate of the Strachan type system for Europe, I love the fact that we can hold the ball and have decent possession while creating chances and putting pressure on teams through pressing well in spells , its impressive to trouble teams at gigantic monetary levels and hopefully somewhere along the road angie and our team can reap the benefits of sticking and not bowing to the pressure to twist , after all wot is a man without principle, have faith .

Principles are fine when it comes to real life interactions with people. In sports, one should never cheat. But matters of tactics demand flexibility. I have faith in Ange to go to Heaven once his time on Earth is up. But I have no faith in his system, when we play European games.

There is a saying many people know , (Jack of all trades master of none )by this I mean if you are working on the same engine type always , then you eventually become the best at doing so on that engine ,so in theory if you stick to the same system, you master that system and become the best at using it to your benefit.

I get what you're trying to say. The problem is actually that in order to master the system Ange wants, our players need to be jacks of all trades. Our midfielders would have to be equally good at passing, tackling, movement, anticipation etc. Strikers athletic, hard-working and deadly in front of goal. Defenders quick, intelligent and good on the ball...

In reality, our players are masters of one or two trades, at best. Kyogo is quick and technically sound but weak, McGregor great at setting tempo and passing but only mediocre in defensive arts, Taylor hard working and intelligent but slow etc. IMO, the solution is to create a system that hides their flaws, but emphasizes their strengths. I feel Ange has not taken the players' (in)abilities when planning his tactics out.

Probably since Lennon's first time in charge. Arguably were in Rodgers season where we were knocked out by Zenit.

Should he have done better? Absolutely.

Did we believe Ronny would? No.

Could Lennon do it? Clearly not.

Do we believe in Ange or not?

I believe he will. I think the last few managers have been false dawns. I have the faith that Ange will turn us into a dangerous team in Europe.

Brugge have gone through so many projects over the years and have finally strike gold. Who is to say we won't in the next few years?

He did get two wins against Lazio, albeit in Europa League. That's the kind of result I want to see again.

I was at the game so I’ll need to rewatch it but surprised about some of the positivity in here.

Thought we were really poor against a below-par CL team - I think at least 17/32 teams in the CL are better than Leipzig.

They cut us open a good few times and a bit unsure how they didn’t manage to capitalise earlier. They had quite a lot of control and the missed chances from us is just becoming normal for me now. Actually a bit non-reactive to it when it happens now. In recent times, I’ve been getting off my seat less and less when we get into good positions

Giakoumakis still needs to position himself properly for headers. His body language is all wrong when he attempts to meet the ball with his head from the right flank. He needs to be facing the ball with his chest, come in late with a run and leap and be in the gap behind the ankles of the defenders and make space for himself to receive the cut back from the right, rather than fighting to get to the ball from a diagonal cross.

Nah leipzig have reached the last 16, 3 out 4 times in the last 4 attempts. Thats some record. So to pretend they are not good is a discredit to them. There new manager aswel is top qaulity imo. Why it never worked at dortmund I don't know.

ball moves faster than players, keep the ball moving make the other team tire and look for those exploiting passes.
many teams during the week do we try those wee back heel flick passes, never come off.

hopefully saturday we go out and play with some intent and venom get that desire back.

we are very capable of beating shak at home (who at present w 1 d2 and lost 1) and hope for favours in the group to come 3rd but being out of our own hands is keek.

I agree a solid spine - hart / ccv / dominant big holder mid and i think a new striker either in jan or the summer would be welcome and build from that.

a good manager and surrounding network should know where to strengthen and who isnt cutting it.
i hope sead gets more game time and start time along with the big dane, and also like to see what guchi can offer

even players we are bringing through are all lightweight - vata , dembele, moffat etc.

interestingly enough nkunku came the same way to RB as eddie to us from PSG...saying that CCV had him in his pocket and I wanted the him being a captain etc, he is the dogs balls and the most important player in the team and well worth one of the top earners in the team.

i agree with everything your saying - what % do you give us getting 3rd less that 15%?

get him and kyoyo a henrik DVD that king make it look too easy...

i hope them 2 are staying behind in training and working on attacking headers - if you want to improve you need to work on your weaknesses - team training for 2 hours a day wont cut it for CL level - they even have harry kewell to ping in accurate crosses. if kyogo heads that down it is a goal

    What we need

    Madrid to beat Leipzig
    Us to beat Shakhtar
    Leipzig to beat Shakhtar
    Us draw with Madrid

With that we go to Europa League

We need our players to develop 'soft feet' with the ball and control that ball, find players in space, have players find space. and further develop the skill of one touch football. If the big teams of Europe can do it , we can too. No need to run ourselves into the ground each week. Recovery time takes longer each week if we do so.

I think of teams such as Bayern Munich, with a patient build up and an explosive front third in attack and midfielders that a can shoot from distance. You do not need to be supermen to play.

As said before on this thread, the ball moves quicker than a player. We are running out of puff mid second half and not pacing ourselves during the game. Is it because the Scottish game has been stereo-typed as being as high energy and at high speed ?

Jock Stein was a master of soccer tactics. The 67 team had feet that kissed the ball. He knew how to deal with a match and preserve his players for the next game, both in Europe and domestically.

Personally, I believe we need to see more local lads come through into the Celtic squad. Playing for Celtic would be an honour, with no thoughts of playing for another club in the future. They would be playing for family and their community and would give their all.

There'll be at least one upset in there, but I doubt it'll be us getting points in Spain.

If Madrid beat energydrinkFC then they are first, sealed and done. They won't risk the big boys against us imo.

Still relies on us beating Shakhtar which on current form, won't be easy. Then to go there and even get something from their B team would be a tough ask. Likes of Hazard and Rodrygo on their bench lol.

No saying it'll be easy. I'm one of those we hopefully guys who believe in miracles though :56: and until shaktar beat us I'm believing we can do it.
