I feel Ralston's tenacity and aggression make him a good candidate, besides being a product of the youth system. CCV is ok as captain, but it feels a bit weird to have a player who's only been with us for one season to lead. Taylor seems like a quiet, hard-working type. Not a leader, at least not yet.

Well Ange always references Taylor and not Ralston as being one of the main leaders in the dressing room, almost as a deputy to Cal in the way Cal was to Broony. I think Ange knows the team dynamics better than us.

Tony can't even get on as a sub most games and you want him as Captain?

Have they elaborated on what exactly he's done to his knee?

when you have the ball one of the midfielders playing deep push higher up and become involved, not buying that argument.
goals away from home - we need 3 goals on average to win an away game - until we stop conceding so many away from home in europe things will never change.

corners, free kicks and yes making those limited proper chances in europe count.

He will be missed but the team should know what to do to off set that. We might not create as many chances without Cal turning over the ball at speed, so we need to make sure we do not squander the ones we do make.

What will be hard to replicate is his leadership on the pitch, it can't be under estimated how much a young squad can be lifted having a captain like Cal who leaves it all on the pitch. We fell apart when he went off last week. So many times during a match Cal has to literally tell our defence and midfield where to play the ball, they need to think for themselves tonight for 90mins even under pressure.

    Having CCV should help.

I think we saw how much the team miss him when he went off against Leipzig and at the weekend. He's a leader on the park and never stops running. I don't think we have anyone who can fully step up to the plate to do the same job Callum does but hopefully I'm proved wrong.

As suspected the answer was massively. The gaps through the middle of our team felt gargantuan tonight at times.

Definitely a big miss, must have been frustrating for him watching that. How little possesion we had at our home tells it's own story.

That said O'Riley put in a good shift and did him proud, the players further forward not so much.

Missed his ability on the ball aswell. Some people think if you just chuck a big tank in the 6 all our problems are solved. For what it's worth I thought Mooy looked good in that role tonight minus * himself to take that shot on.

Worrying how much we suffer from his absence. We shouldnt be that dependant on him.

Mooy didn't play that role tonight, O'Riley stayed there with Arnie further forward.

Huge miss, if he and O’Riley were at the base of the midfield we would have retained the ball much better.

He would have also been available for the ball more and he would have drove us forward better.

Well we should've signed a 6 in the summer that was ready to go..

We signed Mooy who hadn't played since * knows when and then loaned Abildgaard who again hadn't even done pre season training..

Unfortunately players as good as Callum aren't readily available at a price we can afford.

Cheers. I thought he moved into a 6 with O'Riley with Turnbull being pushed higher. Thought he did well though. But needs to be shooting with that chance he had.

We take Callums fitness for granted.

I honestly don't know why Ange signed Abildgaard, he isn't his kind of player and won't be fit until * knows when. I just can't see him working in our system. I have my suspicions it was a board signing that Ange was willing to go along with for diplomacy.

Absolutely nobody in the squad can replace him. You only realise when he's missing.
