Not going to keep repeating this. Read some match analysis, look at heat maps, and rewatch the games - Taylor was targeted.

 

Deserves a tremendous amount of credit, quietly goes about his business and has become one of the most consistent players we have, despite the best efforts of some of our fans! Hopefully continues to improve. Sometimes he can be caught out of position but the way we play I think we're always going to be exposed at times. Difficult to get used to but it's not boring.

 

It's bizarre to me the response from some quarters when you criticise certain players. I didn't think he was particularly poor this game, some errors, but played well enough. However, he did get targeted and has been targeted with some success in our CL games thus far. Look at a heatmap and compare our left to our right, it's pretty clear what's going on.

 

In our system our defence relies on midfield assistance.

Oh how I wish we had a ledley to support that role

 

Taylor had both Simakan and Szoboszlai rampaging down his wing all night at him, with little or no support from Jota.
He is not Superman.

 

Yeah, he’s a weak link who is targeted in Europe.

No harm to him, he’s doing very well for a fairly limited player.

What doesn’t help is folk, for whatever bizarre reason, going totally overboard and painting him as Roberto Carlos.

 

He may be getting targeted but that comes with the territory. And he is coping with it very well
But if you haven't noticed the goals against have been coming mainly via the other wing, with Juranovic switching off and getting outpaced and Hart repeatedly blundering and stuck rooted to his line like a statue at crosses.

I think there may be a bit of truth to the fact that teams see him as a weak link and target him but I also think they target him bcoz they see possibilities to get 2 v 1s with him due to Jota not always switching on defensively

 

Thought he was excellent tonight. I remember people used to wonder if he was good enough for Europe. Turns out he's one of the very few who is.

 

Very good again tonight. One of the few who can come out of the campaign with any credit.

 

Like most, fell out of it a bit later on as he tired but thought he was terrific in 1st half.

 

Along with CCV, was probably our brightest spark.

 

Another very good performance. Thought he should’ve had a shot for that chance in the first half though.

 

Pish. Simply not good enough. There winger could breeze by him st ease, then when attacking hasn't the legs to get by there man. If it wasn't for meada protecting him people would've seen how actually pish he was.

 

Absolute nonsense.

 

Played well but his small stature ain't gonna cut it in the CL.

Really come of age defensively - he was not the issue tonight. Going forward against teams sitting in there’s an argument we need more finesse moving forward.

That’s not a great thing bearing in mind what is realistically left for us this season.
