I love to see it all. What it means to them as much as us..

Nothing beats an injury time winner..

I don't get how anyone can be super critical of GG today.

There were 3 real moments from the game concerning him that says what he is about.

    1. The penalty claim. By all accounts on here and from what I've heard elsewhere he was brought down and should've had a penalty but the ref and his officials had a pretty ordinary day and decided it wasn't a pen...

    Sidebar

Celtic are now 19 competitive games and counting since they were last awarded a penalty. Zero. Nada. Zip. Considering the amount of ball the Bhoys have, the amount of opportunities created and how attacking we tend to be, the law of averages would suggest somewhere in that run a foul was committed inside the box that deserved a penality... but apparently not.

This dates back to April of this year (the last one Celtic got was in the 7-0 win over StJ. In that same time Sevco have had 7 awarded in 25 games (the 6 extra games coming from EL Cup Final, Sc Cup Final & 4 CL Qualifiers), but that is still a massive descrepancy.

    End of Sidebar

    2. The first chalked off goal (not the Maeda one) It was a good move and a legit finish, yet was flagged offside, when apparently when VAR comes in later this season it would've counted as a legall goal.

    3. The winner. Enough said.

As a striker, that is what you want. Apart from that he had some decent touches and admittedly some not so decent ones. All of which though, should not come as a surprise, as he hasnt featured much, due to recent injury and even before that having to play second fiddle to Kyogo.

So a patchy performance was probably expected, but he will benefit enormously between having a full game into his legs and getting such a crucial goal will do him the world of good, and maybe help light a fire under Kyogo also.

I think what most, myself included, were so critical about him today, was his final ball and the bad decisions he made while making a pass. A lot of them were hopeless and wayward. Big mam made up for it though with the winner.

He needed and deserved that goal, the big man thrives off scoring. I’d start him midweek.

Far from his best performance but the winning goal just epitomises him. Penalty box striker with deadly one touch finishing. He’s a menace as well, constantly running and putting his weight about.

Appreciate we’ve got a system that’s served us well but GG is far too good to sit on the bench most weeks. Need to find a way to accommodate both him and Kyogo at times.

His attitude is spot on despite being unlucky not to start every game. Lucky to have the big man, never lets us down

Why? Teams from the championship could easily afford the transfer fee and wages to ply him away from us... * state of affairs, but definitely true...

They sure could, but i highly doubt that a player of his calibre would even consider moving to a championship club.

Other than a single * penalty I don't think he's done anything wrong at all with us... Any criticism he's received, including at this weekend, has been when he be was currently injured/recovering from injury.

Come January if we're out of Europe it's arguable that it's a bigger platform than our league if he wants to be seen and to help go further... If we finished 4th in CL I reckon championship sides are exactly the kind of teams who'll be sniffing.

Not sure it will be possible to start both GG and Kyogo in Ange's system.
However, should be introduced in the second half, ask any defender whats their ultimate nightmare and it will be a big physical center half coming on just as they are starting to tire.

I’d 100% start him, it’s no coincidence that we pumped the huns when he played. He is brilliant at occupying the defence and creating space for our wingers

Watching the game again. Our seats are in the Jock Stein upper and I thought GG was pulled back for the ball to the back post. I was screaming that VAR had to check it. Turns out I was right - cert penalty. What's the point of VAR if they don't use it.

Couldn't believe they didn't even check it * ridiculous.
