I’m more than happy with the progress we’ve made under Ange, however I wouldn’t be getting my hopes up too much in regards to this “long term process” talk.

Yes we have made massive strides in the last year and a half but any time we have built a team similar to this level we’ve really struggled to hold on to players and add to it. Realistically clubs are going to be coming in for our best players next summer.

We need to make best of what we have right now, so personally I will be disappointed if we don’t beat Leipzig and Shaktar at home as I think that’s the bar this team has set. I’m sick of the excuses, we have the team and squad capable of putting it right up to them and if we can’t do it this season then I won’t hold my breath for the next few personally.

That said, 1 point from the first three games isn’t as bleak as it seems. In fact if you look at the three games on paper before the tournament started you’d be saying any points are a bonus. Just hope it hasn’t dampened the confidence among the squad.

We did well to get that point against Shakhtar, it gives us the chance to finish second if results go our way.

Pretty much where I'm at, even keeping teams together doesn't necessarily result In building upon previous campaigns either, Rodgers second season, Strachan's 4th, and The 10 in a row season come to mind

It's funny how fast the language goes from "learning experience" to "glass ceiling" in these situations

we don't get some points from these next two games, I can't see how there has been any improvement or lessons learned from facing similar level of opposition in real betis and Leverkusen last season

    Pretty much where I'm at

A point is fine from the 3 first 3 games, but only on the assumption that we get points from next two games, as I can't see how we've improved from last season, when we faced similar level of opposition in Leverkusen and Betis if we don't

Absolute joke today with the subs. Infact, been a joke since losing to St Mirren.

    Lucky, lucky *.

His subs were absolutely ridiculous and completely changed the game in St Johnstone’s favour. Talks about giving teams respect but isn’t showing it with his team selection/subs.

Cannot have a midfield three of guys who have no pace or energy.

He annoyed me more in that game than the St Mirren/Leipzig losses.

We're already playing a rotated team, but those subs were beyond bizarre, we literally almost gifted them a point. So, so negative.

He got away with one today, he really needs to wise up with rotating players.

    Needs to wise up ASAP.

I get that our schedule is hectic but I can't for the life of me understand changing our whole midfield every other game. I made a thread on this a few weeks ago but how the * are O'Riley and Hatate meant to become 90 minute midfielders when they are constantly taken off with 25/30 minutes to go.

    Oh and stop playing Maeda.

    Very, very lucky today.

Won’t argue with that but at least he kept going to the last and fair play to McCarthy for sprinting to get that ball.

Never, ever, ever want to see a midfield trio of Mooy, McCarthy and Abildgaard again.

    Game management was horrendous.

Got majorly away with one today. I could understand the subs if we had a 2nd goal that killed the game off but not at that point in the game with St Johnstone still in it.

I couldn't believe he took Haksabanovic off after already bringing on Mooy and Abildgaard..

To be fair though we were wide open through the middle and that's why he's reacted..

Really alarming yet again though. We're miles off it overall. That was nailed on they were gonna score and could've had 3 late on. We were rattled big time..

Mental management, we've lost our defensive midfielder who isn't even really a defensive midfielder and I think everyone thought we'd change to 2 guys deeper O'Riley and Hatate and Haksabanovic allowed to stay forward just to keep it tighter and we just played the normal way with O'Riley who usually is the least deep of the 3 playing the sitting role.

Questions need to be asked of his use of subs and why 2 young guys like oriley and Hatate aren't fit enough to play 70 mins never mind 90.
Worrying trend of falling out or losing control of games when he makes those midfield changes, particularly Mooy
