Tbh looking forward to seeing how we play without him. terrible news about the injury obviously but maybe it’ll force ange to play a wee bit more cautious with Abildgaard in holding midfield against Leipzig. Everyone knows we are too gung ho in Europe and can be weak in midfield and McGregor is a part of that.

Gutted that he's out for a bit - I think some folks are about to get a wake-up call regarding how valuable CalMac is to us.

Our squad doesn't seem as 'deep' as it was a couple of months ago.

Love Reo, but I don't think he could play that role. He's got great vision for a forward pass and great technique for turn away from players and keeping the ball, but he plays some sloppy passes at times. Can't get away with that playing in the 6.

Ive heard rumours he's ripped his meniscus? Ive done that to both my knees. Only needed keyhole on both times and was back running within 6 weeks. No idea how that translates to an athlete though but if it is that, then its hopefully not too bad.

Back training doesn't mean fit to start unfortunately. Did you see the state of his leg?

I think Guchi shows signs of being a bit of a leader on the pitch, more so than someone like Mooy or McCarthy. I remember when Cal broke his face it was Tam and Guchi who were with him making sure he was ok.

Big thing is we've 'lost' the spine of our team. Both CB, our key CM and CF. Add on that our GK, other CM and CF are 'off form' compared to last year and it's not difficult to see why we're stretched.

This spell is gonna call for us to knuckle down and endure in the league, and may we'll be the end of matters for Europe this year. Right now, I don't see how we've strength to challenge on all the fronts at the same time... Just too many straws on the camel's back

At worst, I imagine he'll be out until the World Cup.

I know that sounds awful as he'll miss the rest of the Champions League and some crucial league games but at least we have a bit of a breather when the world cup is on where he can get some rest and get back up to speed.

Proper kick in the nuts though.

I want Abildgaard in now and let Reo and O'Riley sit in front of him.

Need CCV back ASAP now more than we did before.

Done both myself. Was pretty simple stuff coming back just a few weeks. Suarez was back in about 3/4 weeks after surgery before a World Cup i remember. That’s just rumours though as he probably only got to London this afternoon so word wouldn’t have been out yet. Hopefully it is something quite straight forward.

It looks likely that Abildgaard will start tomorrow as the 6. A big opportunity for him to see what he can do. Clearly though he is not at full match sharpness due to his lack of game time over the past 4 months so it will be up for grabs how effective and how far off match sharpness he is tomorrow.

He can't be that far away. Been training with the rest of the squad since at least 26 Aug.

Hard to know given the nature of his injury. Ange said this in August

“Ideguchi is still a fair bit off and in rehab,” said the Celtic manager. “He got a fair few stitches in his leg that need to be taken out. It’s going to be a bit of a process with him, but he’s back at the club doing his individual work. I don’t really put timescales on these things as it’s not really fair with the players. Everyone heals differently. The important thing is he’s making progress.”

Which did not sound like he was anywhere near ready in August. "It's going to be a bit of a process with him" is for me the telling statement. It's not just that he suffered a deep wound that needed lots of stitches, it's where that would is. Right on his knee and down his shin. That skin is going to be very sensitive for quite a while and he will need to be very careful that it is not hit and how do you play football and avoid anything impacting your knee and shin? That's before we consider the ligaments in the knee that may have been damaged.

His leg still looked prerry messed up just last month. Training in a controlled environment is one thing, playing competive impact sport with a healing wound like that quite another.
