Hasn't kicked on at all this season. In fact he seems to have really regressed.

Needs a spell on the bench.

Maeda is love, Maeda is life.

But sorry my sweet Prince...Abada or Haskobanovic need playing ahead of you right now

Don’t think he’ll ever be good enough for us.

I’ve said it on here a few times before, don’t rate him. Poor first touch, can’t pass accurately and his crossing in the main is rotten. For those who think running about like mad constitutes a good player, you’re watching the wrong team.

I want him benched and used as an impact player only for the forceable.

He has been Awful, still think he will get us important goals and change the game but from the bench.

I don't want to bash the guy he's solid and puts in a lot effort but I don't think he's going to be good enough.

Thought he was really shown up last night.

What's supposed to make Maeda a huge threat is his apparently blistering pace. Yet several times against Leipzig he had the opportunity to take their players on and was instead beaten in the foot race. He wasn't quicker than their left-back and that showed on several occasions.

The big issue with that is that he doesn't have many more attributes that will make him stand out in a game. He can't pass well, his dribbling/foot work is pretty poor, and it's not as if he has a knack for getting on the scoresheet.

Starting to worry that he simply isn't good enough for us. I struggle to see him kicking on and suddenly developing a level of technique that will see him make a long-term impact here.

    Hope I'm wrong.

He’s shown in the past that he’s good enough, maybe not as a starter but definitely a squad player.

Kyogo has also missed a power of chances at this level. He’s a few months away yet from getting slaughtered, however.

I don't want to be too negative. People have short memories - this guy had some big moments last year without which we may not have won the league.

I do tend to agree that with Hacksaw now in rotation, Maeda should go down in the pecking order. Still got a role to play, a decent squad option

I don't think I've ever seen him strike the ball cleanly, it's always off his shin or underside of the boot. Surely theres more to come from him, else I can see him going back home with his tail between his legs sadly.

If we want to progress in the CL Maeda needs to be a squad player at best

Tried to back him cos of what he brings to us off the ball, but so many attacks are breaking down or chances being missed because of him. We need better unfortunately.

Doesnt even seem anywhere near as sharp as he was last year. Was getting the ball passed around him for fun all night.

He hasnt really had much in the way of a run of games, with Ange initially favouring Abada.

I guess he does have an injury- the one that was hinted at a week ago? Regardless, he is so bad when it comes to technique. Another reason, besides Hart, for Ange to ditch possession football, and switch to direct attacks with a mid-block press or high press.

Maeda actually started the season ahead of Abada, I remember being * off about it. Not that Maeda was terrible or anything, he was just OK, but Abada not getting a lot of game time was a big mistake for me. Ange eventually corrected it though so fair play.

Have seen it a few times season not just in CL but in SPL as well where he has acres to run into it’s him against 1 defender and your thinking he’s going to breeze past them with his pace and he gets outpaced and outmuscled by players who he should be quicker than.

Blistering pace is meant to be his main attribute and I’m not seeing it. His work rate is top notch but his pressing and closing down could do with some work, when he presses he gets sold very easily and gets taken out of the game.

I genuinely can’t recall a time he has intercepted or dispossessed a player in a dangerous position in Europe. Could be wrong on that but even his defensive attributes aren’t good enough to cover his poor technical ability and attacking side of the game.

I think he's fine for domestic games and seems to have a good understanding with Kyogo. But the CL is a step to far.

He's far from fine domestically. He's actually worse domestically as we dominate 80% of possession rendering his 1 real assets irrelevant as there isn't great need to go chasing and pressing the ball.

When we have so much possession and are on attack so much he's even worse as he's so so poor technically and offers very little as he done against mothwell and St mirren
