Joined in January and made 22 appearances, offering 8 goals and 5 assists. A decent return.

So far this season he’s on 11 appearances, 1 goal and 4 assists. Arguably should be on at least 3 goals and he’s still been creating chances for us. Most of his goals for us have come from when he’s been playing on the left, and he’s yet to score for us while being started on the right.

I have the feeling that despite his dip in form he’ll still make a lot of positive contributions this season.

He’s definitely not hit the heights of when he first joined but, for me, a guaranteed starter in Germany.

Another player who needs to put in a performance the night and if given a chance finish it.

First touch needs improving.no point in being fast if you can't take advantage of it. Superb player just needs a little confidence.HH

One of the first names on the team sheet tonight for me and play him on whatever side Nkunku is on.

I do think we are a bit unbalanced in our squad in terms of wingers in that apart from Abada the other 3 would all prefer to be on the left.

I don’t think this has helped Maeda as he has often been moved to accommodate the more gifted players and him and Abada aren’t a good combination. I was glad when we signed Haksabanovic as another gifted, dribbling
And ball hungry winger to share the load with Jota but ideally he would have preferred being on the right.

It is why I wanted Solbakken from Bodo/Glimt as I think he is a player that has the exact attributes we needed to compliment what we have. A left footer, quick, physical, good dribbler. I think he signed a pre contract but I can’t tell if it was with Roma or Napoli, if he hasn’t I would be all over it despite him having an indifferent season to date. If not him someone like that would be ideal.

I think if we had someone like him on the right you would see the best of Maeda on the left.

No that he is doing anything bad, but I am beginning to become less bothered/impressed with him and think we do not get the best out of him.

I expected a lot more in a goals return/assists return. Think we don't see the best out of him because we don't actually play him through the middle. But he isn't replacing Kyogo or Giakoumakis and I think Ange wants to play him as much as he can, because his engine and reading the line is brilliant.

But surely, at some point we are gonna see Abada or Hacksbanovic claim the right wing spot for themselves and Jota has the left side.

His work rate will be vital for us tonight, glad he is starting. Will offer protection to full back.

Runs himself into the ground but he's not starting quality in any position we put him in. Excellent squad player

Shouldn't be starting. Albeit I think Abada starts if he's available, but I'd be putting Haksabanovic ahead of him currently.

I think he’s absolutely * to be honest. Sorry, but he offers nothing.

A stationary cone would offer more on the wing

Looks the part and is always willing, but in Europe hes just not strong or quick enough starting to annoy me running around with nothing to show for it.

Not offering enough at the moment, would start Abada ahead of him.

Honestly I'm sick of seeing him in our starting line up. Unfortunately Haksabanovic hasn't looked great either and we all know Abada is patchy.

He very rarely has the ball under control. Lacks the basics of a footballer and shunted out on the right wing it's even more obvious.

Nowhere near good enough for EL football, never mind CL.
