Sorry mate. I love mcgregor but mcstay had everything. Hard as * in the tackle, great passer of the ball, sublime skill and a never say die attitude. On a different level to mcgregor, but mcgregor is also class and its great to have him.

All about opinions mate but you're wrong lol.

Seriously though bud, Mcstay in early 90s, and possibly John Collins, we're the difference between us being on a level with a hibs or motherwell. Bad days back then.

No doubting your opinion, entitled to it, obviously a bit younger than us, just saying it’s not nostalgic, picking mcstay it’s the fact a genuinely just think he’s an all round far better player than mcgregor, though I love calmac aswell

McStay was the better player. Literally carried the entire team on his back for years.

Aye we're all entitled to our opinions, and I loved watching McStay too. But with the bit in bold, I don't see how. McGregor is a better passer with a greater range, has far better movement, and superior technique. The fact he's equalled McStay's overall club goal tally in a couple of hundred games fewer is telling too.

All entitled to opinions but to claim Mcgregor is a better passes with better range is completely ludicrous

Totally disagree mate and I find the over hyping of McStay ludicrous tbh, but as you say we're all entitled to opinions.

100% mate, mcstay s passing was legendary, guy could ping accurate passes 50 ,60 yards, and the amount of assists he had with passes splitting a defence was legendary

I don't remember McStay in his pomp, was too young. Only got to see him when he was way past it..

The footage I've seen of him in his pomp though, he looked a brilliant player who had a bit of everything. Would've been outstanding as an 8 in this side..

McGregor had a pretty poor miss on Saturday. Had to score for me. Was leaning back and * it..

McStay was a great player. No doubt. Mind you, if you never saw him in the flesh, then all you're seeing is a highlights reel, so bear in mind (I'm sure you are) that even the shittest players on the planet these days can put together a 'highlights reel' that makes them look like superstars!

Trust me - as great as McStay was, he had plenty of misses and 'moments' like the one you described for McGregor at the weekend.

I didn't watch McStay play but wasn't he known for his unbelievable passing? I wouldn't even say with confidence McGregor has ever been the best passer in our team, and certainly not right now with Hatate.

A good passer, very neat and metronomes the team very well but not a passing wizard like some of the greats.

Also, on the goal front, surely a bit harsh on McStay considering the teams he had to play in. A quick (not thorough) check of our goal tallies in some of those seasons shows he was probably at a disadvantage here.

Again I've never watched McStay so happy to just hear opinions.
