They won comfortably 4-0 today, two goals a piece for Werner and Nkunku.

Gonna be a massive ask to get anything when we’re not at full strength and out of form.

We’ll get chances but need to be clinical which we haven’t been vs Madrid, Shakhtar and again today.

If CCV is back we have a chance keeping it tight. Hopefully Giakoumakis will be fit too.

Draw here. Two wins at home against RB and Shaktar should be enough.

    Going to be tough though.

Would be starting Mooy or Abildgaard to protect the defence.

    Hart
    JJ
    CCV (pray)
    Jenz
    Taylor

    Mooy/Abildgaard
    McGregor

    Hatate

    Jota
    Kyogo
    Abada

Happy it's the away game first, would have been an extremely tricky tie even at full strength.

    Hart
    Juranovic Jenz Welsh Taylor
    McGregor
    Hatate Turnbull
    Abada Kyogo Jota

Abildgaard, O'Riley, Giakoumakis, Haksabanovic and Maeda off the bench, win here would guarantee European football after Christmas, draw would still be a really good result. Going 2-2.

I'm not confident about this one at all.

However if we lose here, although we'd be bottom, as long as Madrid win every game until they play us at the Bernabeu, then we can qualify by beating Leipzig and Shaktar at home.

If that we're to happen we'd have 7 points going into the last game.

Leipzig have none so far but if they beat us in Germany, lose at Parkhead and lose both v Madrid they could only get 6 points maximum in the group by beating Shaktar in the last game.

Same with Shaktar. As long as they lose both games v Madrid, and lose to us at Parkhead, the best they could get would be 7 should they beat Leipzig in the last game. But we'd qualify ahead of them on the head to head basis.

That's how I'm trying to cope with it anyway.

This is basically a free hit for us. Win this and we are through for certain imo.

    * man I don't know if our makeshift defence will be strong enough for this.

Against Bochum who have 1 point after 8 games, we’re more than capable of beating them but can see it being a very open and high scoring game.

If he doesn’t start Abildgaard against Motherwell then I can’t see him starting against Leipzig

    Far easier said than done.

But yes, assuming Madrid win all their games, and we manage to win one of the games v Leipzig , then it comes down to a straight shoot out between ourselves and Shaktar on matchday 5.

So if we win on Wed we'd be in great shape. But even if we don't win, all is not lost. As long as Madrid keep winning, two home victories will be enough on their own to reach the last 16.

Crucial we have CCV for this. If not it’s hard to have confidence we’ll get a result.. especially with Werner and Nkunku finding form.
