This is how i see it as well and how it really works for managers in football. He will raise his bar every window, requesting more funds to take us to new levels. When that is not met, he will see his work done.

This is how Rodgers left, but the difference there was that he could not back anything up with smart transfers, as he was * at finding players. Ange is not.

Why? Did you think he was a lifelong die hard Celtic fan, who's only dream was to manage our football club? :56:

Of course he's gonna be ambitious and want to test himself at the highest level possible. He's been a coach for 25 odd years, and is pushing 60. He doesn't have much time left, if he wants to go to the very top.

It's not like we can complain about how the man has conducted himself with our club. He's been brilliant.

Brendan was working his ticket from day one he was looking for any excuse to leave that wouldn't make him look like the bad guy. Maybe if he hadn't brought that useless gimp Congerton in he might have did better with signings

At the same time, you have to see it from the board's perspective too. The money simply isn't there to bankroll success in Europe. Unless we want to end up like the other crowd * our pants as the liquidators come in. (no thanks)

The only way it could be done, is the way Ajax churn out talent from their academy and sell it on for big bucks. Or the way the Portuguese take unknown prospects from south america, and sell them on. Then eventually, over many years, you can start to climb the money tree and get closer to the big boys.

But how many managers are going to stick around to see a long term project like that through to the end? And our fans are not patient enough to wait either - they want instant success and to stay on top of the other lot every season.

So while we continue to inhabit this high pressure environment, we will continue to burn through managers and playing staff at a very high rate.

I think every manager that comes in here, is made aware of this from the start. They're under no illusions. Ange is just being more forthright and honest in his answers.

Agree 100% but as long as Ange is so insanely good on recruitment i can see the board backing him even more then they have so far. Just imagine how much money all Ange's signings will go for. Crazy profit.

I noticed a big change after we took those heavy defeats in the CL to PSG. He started looking for the exit after that, because he knew a few more drubbings like this would tarnish his reputation and he'd struggle to get a decent offer down south. Instead of blaming himself for those rubbish performances, he blamed the board.

We're between a rock and hard place. We obviously need a talented manager to be successful. But talented people are usually ambitious... so most will come here to raise their profile (or rebuild their reputation like in the case of BR), and then look to move on.

Yeah, that's a fair point. His track record so far in the transfer market deserves the full backing of our board. So hopefully he gets that.

However, at some point you need to start developing our own talent. Because as we've seen with other managers, eventually you will run out gems to find in the transfer market.

    all are good

The EPL is cut-throat in wanting instant results from new managers because EPL means big money for clubs and no team wants to be relegated. That's clear. The big monied teams do not have the patience to have a manager who will need a minimum two year project to get the team to play the way he wants.

What club in the EPL would take on Ange as the manager ? It would have to be a mid-table club with ambitions of future glory in Europe, and the patience to allow Ange to do his 'magic' at the club. A stable club with history, a good stadium holding over 30,000 plus supporters, and a supportive board/owners to be on the same page with Ange in regards to future success. Teams like Wolves, Leicester, Everton, Leeds Utd, Aston Villa, West Ham Utd etc.

Or Ange could take charge of a pedigree club that has seen better days but is in the English Championship. With such a club he could spend the first two years preparing them for a promotion tilt at getting into the EPL. Having done so, in the third year he would have the nucleus of a young, successful, exciting team promoted into the EPL and set to stay there.
With more money he could buy players as he saw fit to further improve the squad and establish itself once more in the top tier of English football. Teams that come to mind are QPR, West Brom, Stoke City, Middlesborough.

Does he want to do that ? Does he have the desire to do that at his age ? If it was purely for the money some others may want to do that, but Ange is different. He may even want to take a team to the World Cup Finals in the future.

I see Ange as a manager who wants to play in Europe each season with Celtic, a famous club with history in Europe.
Also Parkhead with 61.000 seats simply adds to the lure of being at Celtic, and also the fervour and passion of its supporters.

I do not believe Ange has any thoughts of leaving Celtic.

Can’t wait for the day he flips on the tinpot ‘journalists’ in this country.

His Champions League pressers are a hard watch, with the bumbling and rambling questions from the reporters.

As long as he doesn't bail halfway through the season, I'll be happy. Unfortunately, there'll be speculation every time an EPL manager gets sacked now, which could be unsettling for the team.
