Kyogo Furuhashi has been rewarded for his outstanding goals and performances in the month of August by collecting the cinch Premiership Player of the Month award.

The Japanese striker made a storming start to the season and scored in each of Celtic’s league matches in August, finding the back of the net six times in four matches.

The run of goals started with a 3-1 away win over Ross County at the start of the month, with Kyogo scoring the opener.

There were then further strikes in a 5-0 away win over Kilmarnock and a 2-0 home win over Hearts.

Finally, he managed to score his second hat-trick for the club as he scored three stunning goals in a record-breaking 9-0 win away to Dundee United.

Speaking exclusively to Celtic TV about winning the first Player of the Month award for the season, Kyogo said: “I’m happy to get Player of the Month, my teammates always give me good passes and I just score the goals and I’m happy.

“It always makes me happy and every goal is for the supporters.

“We keep working hard every game and training session and I hope we score more goals and I keep doing my best.”

Surprised at his English. It's coming along really well. Might not seem much but probably helps him a little bit more here and maybe on the pitch.

Imagine trying your hardest to learn the "Queens English" thinking you were doing a good job only to arrive in Glasgow!

    Great chance early on.

For me I'd start GG in Leipzig. I just feel we get more and defenders don't enjoy going up against him as much.

The issue for me with starting GG is you can’t rely on him when a big chance comes along, Kyogo was unlucky with his first effort it was a great save by their keeper. He then would have had a tap in at our goal if he took it, would have had another if Haksabanovic just used his left foot instead of whatever he tried with the outside of his right when he had all the time in the world.

Giakoumakis gives us a good presence but that chance he missed tonight with all the time in the world from around the penalty spot could be the difference between getting 2nd or 3rd in this group and not. A little bit of composure and that’s us 2-1 up, it was the chance we had all been waiting on.

    Start the 2 of them.

Both abada and Maeda have positives and negatives at this level.

May not be his best position but Kyogo would give work rate of Maeda and goals of abada from wide

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
I see the logic but disagree given the requirement to have both fit and raring to go.

also because kyogo wide kills his proven impact as a born goal scorer and Abada plus haksa sitting on a bench doesn’t stack up just to fit kyogo and gg in to a starting 11

fwiw I think we have it bang on. Kyogo and gg will both get enough time to get 20 goals each while wide players develop and grow.

Should not be starting euro matches. Should be coming on when jacko has worn the defenders down for 60mins
