That was complex. The team was not playing well. Could have been out with the last kick of the game against Syria-they hit the post. He did not have the player quality to play how he wanted and he was inflexible. Depending on who you ask, he bailed out knowing a hiding was coming in Russia, or he was pushed out by forces within the FFA and media.

 

Terrible time to leave, and no-one (except him) really knows the reason why. And he left Yokohama to go to a better club.

Mind you, I've said all along that Celtic is a destiny thing for Ange - the perfect club for him to create a leave a massive legacy. That would be ruined if he left inside the next three years and I can't see it happening.

UNLESS, there is some ridiculous offer that he simply can't refuse in contemplation of setting himself and his family up for life. Even then, he might say no... for now.

I'd be much happier if the club tied him down to the biggest and longest contract they can afford. It will certainly be worth it whether he stays long or short.

 

IMO Celtic is a 3 year- minimum- project for him.

 

I * hope your right. He’ll be earning decent money here and i’m sure a new deal will be on its way.

I can't see Ange going to Brighton. I couldn't see Rodgers going to Leicester.

 

Does he look happy? Does he look settled?

Can’t see the big man jumping at the first opportunity tbh.

The Bodo manager will be a decent appointment for them.

 

If anything I think a 3 year contract will come out of this for ange rather than him going to Brighton.I think they might go for a Scott Parker or Rafa benitez someone who has been in the premiership.

 

Unless Klopp gets the sack or Pep resigns, he'll be here for a while

 

I honestly don't think we've much to worry about in terms of interest from down south. It's not like Rodgers who was proven down south already, or Gerrard who was known as a player/captain. Ange is unproven outside of Japan and Scotland and a lot of English fans will be sceptical of those leagues as proving grounds, making him a risky appointment from a board's point of view.

He's also a guy that obviously likes to build a squad around a certain style, which requires money and time, something a lot of drop zone clubs don't have. Realistically, I think he'd need a run of a few seasons or would need to do something in Europe before he'd garner serious attention from a mid-table club and I can't see him leaving for less than that. So basically we're golden.

 

Ange just went toe to toe with the greatest club side of all time on a fraction of their budget. Absolutey no doubt this and the way he has turned this club around has not gone unnoticed down south or even on the continent...

Brighton are an extremely well run and ambitious club that I think Ange would fancy.. thankfully the timing isn't right now, can't see him walking away so soon.

It will happen one day unfortunately just not yet

Thankfully Leicester and Villa haven’t worked out for Rodgers and Gerrard (so far). Those types of options should appeal less.

Ange gets Celtic. As I said before I’d be absolutely shocked if he left for anything less than a Spurs or Liverpool type job.

 

He'll go one day but not yet. I think he's enjoying his time at the moment!

 

I'd say Rodgers worked out tbh. He performed a miracle cup win. Yes everyone knows year 3 he * it. If someone wants a good couple years he's your man. Just sack him after

 

People can’t really sit and say there’s no chance he goes.

He left the Japanese club for us mid-season, so it does show he’s willing to walkout if the right opportunity presents itself.

There’s also the trebling of the salary and fact that he’s 57 - would he want to wait until he’s 60 to manage in the EPL?

I have my doubts he’d go, but it can’t be ruled out.

 

Ange is definitely getting noticed down south and clubs will be interested (I expect Brighton to enquire). But I don’t think Ange will be interested in leaving just yet.

However, I’ve said this before maybe in another thread, but this is why we need plans in place. If Ange joins Brighton tomorrow, we’re right back in the same position as when Rodgers joined Leicester and we’re *.

 

Apparently read somewhere that he was the bookies favourite to get the Brighton job.

Tbh I'm more of an Ange follower than Celtic but I'd rather he stay here than go.

Brighton have a pretty good base to build from but I think he could do much much better than them.
