Played great today.

I’m still not overly convinced, but surely he’s a better option for Scotland than diddies like Hanley and McKenna?

 

Played well but it's going to take something special to dislodge CCV and Starfelt.

 

Inclined to agree with the idea that's been his best performance yet. Prior today I would have had Welsh down as a fairly steady CB that didn't do much wrong but equally didn't overly impress me.

Today he was one of the very best on the pitch and I hope we come to expect more of the same. Looked like an experienced CB today.

If this is a sign of rapid development too then he has an exciting career ahead

 

Always a threat in the box from corners, attacks the ball very well.

Goal aside he was excellent today.

 

Young CB, massive Celtic fan that's come through our academy, Scotland u21 captain, Ange has been praising him and grabs the opener today yet you can still see the faint praise from the usual suspects getting stuck into our academy boys. I don't get it. Well done Stephen Welsh, hopefully you grow and grow and prove the doubters wrong.

 

I think at his age he's not going to grow any more. I don't even think you get built up shoes for football, but I could be wrong!

 

Not much of a test today from the sheep but I like him easily good enough to be around the first team squad and stepping in when called on. If he was at a Hibs,Aberdeen etc he'd be there best CB comfortably hes easily good enough for the league time will tell if hes good enough for European football.

 

Proving his critics wrong.

I have always liked him, had a few shaky moments I said a while back in here he could be a mainstay in our team and I still think he has that in him if he cuts out some of the mistakes in his game.

Still time to come into the side and do something and will be a good squad player in the coming years, could well be a first team regular week in and week out if he can keep his forum week in and week out.

 

Welsh is racking up the appearances since breaking into the Celtic side in the behind closed doors championship under Lenny. He's developing into a solid, CB. His style is very similar to Carter Vickers.

He's part of the Scottish Spine of Taylor, Ralston and Welsh McGreagor and Turnbull the Bull. The Celtic bravehearts will never give up the Jersey. It is not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that they fight, but for freedom alone, which no honest Scot gives up but with life itself. Now's the day and now's the hour for Steven Welsh. Faithful through and through.

 

So happy for him to start on such a special day and then get his goal. His use of the ball was good overall

We need two players in each position; Welsh is totally fine back up for CCV and Starfelt - At the moment Jenz is also regarded as back up to those two - At only 22 years old it would be disappointing to see Welsh who has come through our youth ranks to be sold especially when he has a lot of potential to improve - No harm in having a Celtic fan in the squad either; his commitment will never be in question which cannot be said for Julien who has looked disinterested in preseason

 

There was one point when he flew through the back of their striker to win a high ball.. just wish he would do that more often. Be more demanding. Overall a stellar game for him though.
