He's as much of a defensive midfielder as McGregor is.

i.e. he isn't a defensive midfielder at all.

I'll still be disappointed if it's Mooy and a 6..

Mooy doesn't do it for me. We need really energy in the middle and him, at 32....does fuckall for me. We've seen the lack of leg's outwith our first team....and even then we could still be doing with some much needed athleticism in there....yet go for Mooy..

Gas a bit of creativity in him but no guile or anything..

Such a poor move all round if it happens..

I'm not against this at all tbh.

As long as we still get a proper Defensive midfielder.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather we just go out, sign a 6 and move on. I don't think we need Mooy, not do I want him. Just trying to see it from Anges perspective.

AARON MOOY will be reunited with his former Australia boss Ange Postecoglou when he signs for Celtic
    .

SunSport understands talks progressed over the weekend for the 31-year-old free agent – capped by Postecoglou – to pen a stunning deal with the champions and become their fifth summer signing.

Ex-St Mirren midfielder Mooy recently quit Chinese club Shanghai Port and returned to Scotland to be with his Scots wife and family.

That immediately alerted Postecpoglou who was anxious to strengthen his midfield options ahead of the title defence and Champions League group stages.

Mooy played for Postecoglou at international level between 2013-17 and has 52 caps.

Now he’s hoping playing for Celtic can rubber-stamp a place in Graham Arnold’s squad for the Qatar World Cup finals in November.

SunSport revealed Postecoglou’s praise for Mooy last week.

Asked about a possible move for the player, the Hoops boss said: “Aaron’s a fantastic footballer, somebody I know really well.

“I’m sure he will get picked up, he’s a good player, a very talented player.”

Sydney-born Mooy played 21 league games for St Mirren between 2010-12.

From there the well-travelled star played for Western Sydney Wanderers, Melbourne City, Huddersfield Town and Brighton.

Mooy signed a three-year deal for Man City in 2016 but within a year, and after a loan spell at Huddersfield, was signed permanently for £10 million.

He just doesn't fit whatsoever in either role..

The 6...he is never that for us. Would rather keep McGregor in there..

Then would he offer us more than Hatate, O'Riley or Turnbull in term's of number's? No way..

Go out and sign a proper defensive mid that suit's us and a pacey, pressing machine with a bit of guile and creativity as an 8/10 or something like the French boy that we're linked with..

If we got Mooy and the PSG kid and McCarthy was moved on, wouldn't be a bad week... lots of ifs

If we had already signed a proper defensive mid and then signed Mooy, I don’t think many would be that bothered. It’s the fact it seems like we aren’t prioritising a position we badly need whilst signing a player fir a position we already have numbers for.

If we’re signing Mooy then we won’t be getting Michut.

    Both play the same position.

In my view this should not be more than 2 years at his age.

Aaron Mooy is set to join Celtic as the club's fifth summer signing.

The Hoops have been working to strengthen their options in midfield this summer after losing Nir Bitton at the end of his contract last season. The Parkhead club have already been busy in the transfer market with the loan deals for Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota being made permanent, while Alexandro Bernabei and Benji Siegrist have also been brought in.

But while they have been interested in Argentinos Junior midfielder Fausto Vera, Celtic have not been able to move any further forward in regards to him or improving that area of the pitch just yet. However, Ange Postecoglou, Football Scotland understands, has now got his man as he is set to be reunited with Australian international and former St Mirren midfielder Mooy. He is currently a free agent after quitting Chinese side Shanghai Port to return home to his family in Scotland

I thought Michut was more offensive. Its an underwhelming signing but there's 6 weeks left in this window... I'm not panicing yet.

He might be but neither are holding midfielders. They’d both be 8’s in this system.

Signing those two and a defensive minded midfielder would leave us with 9 midfielders for 3 positions - and I can’t see us shifting Ideguchi and McCarthy.
