I love Ange but if that's the case then expect a record amount of goals to be conceded in the CL. We are way too * weak when defending set pieces and on counter attack. We get bullied off the ball way too easily aswell. I really hope the St Mirren boy isn't one of the "2 signings either"

Maybe! Bring in a solid CB, and play them as a sweeper in a back 5 and you'd get similar purchase... Maybe!

True but we can't play the way we play without having a player thay has defensive capabilities for on the counter, Calmac isn't a defensive player let's be honest. Wouldn't hurt to sign a big physical guy for set pieces also, it's our achillies heel just now

I like his philosophy, and it’s one we all love to watch. However, first and foremost I want to see us win. I genuinely couldn’t give a flying * how that’s achieved either. If we do it playing free flowing attacking football, then all the better, but if it’s done playing defensively and hitting teams on the counter, I don’t care. We go into the Champs League with the current setup with the same players to pick from, we will get ripped apart. Last season was a free hit in Europe, this season isn’t. Granted we are playing at a higher level this year, but we simply cannot be as easy to score against.

Getting concerned now with that quote from Ange and us signing Mooy. To go from Souza to this...

I doubt Souza is anything to do with this. He will be signing Mooy because he's a player he knows well.

Pretty disgusted about Mooy to be honest. Have absolutely no idea what he brings to the team. Another James McCarthy type signing. Barely played the last 2 years and 31. Shocker of a move from the club and Ange.

We’ve probably got something in the background

More of Ange not giving the media a sniff

Sorry mate, I’m just seeing this.

As of last Wednesday the two positions we were closest to filling were centre back and centre mid, but we were actively engaged in talks with multiple options at DM and also an attacker. I’ve had zero update since then, but should hopefully get one tomorrow.

For what it’s worth, if signing Mooy on a free to add some depth to the squad means that we free up some funds to bring in a quality DM, then it’s a shrewd move. He’s a quality player with plenty experience and more than capable of making a positive contribution. We’re absolutely not signing Mooy instead of a DM.

Sorry mate.. but there's no chance we're signing two midfielders.. it's packed as is, unless someone's leaving.

If CCV was to pick up an injury we would be right up * creek without a paddle.

We’re two light from what we had last season, with a heavier schedule ahead of us.

Bitton and Rogic have gone and not yet been replaced; whilst preseason has shown that McCarthy and Ideguchi aren’t up to the task of stepping up.

If bringing Mooy in on a free to replace Rogic means we free up some cash to buy a quality DM then I’m all for it. Considering DM has been a priority (alongside LB) all summer, I’d be absolutely stunned if we don’t bring one in.

Mooy is a rogic replacement in name only, doesn’t have the skill set of rogic so won’t help break teams down the way rogic did

    Couldn't lace his boot's..

He was a workhorse that seemed to be fairly well rounded in his prime. Now he's 32 and barely played in China for a couple year..

    Utterly bizzare. He's free though........

This. Even at his absolute best at Huddersfield the best thing you could say was he was a workhouse got who about the pitch pretty well.

Even then he was nowhere near good enough.

What similarities does Mooy have to Rogic in regards to what he brings to the team, other than position..

    "Replacement" Lol.

Exactly that, he’s literally a replacement in his position. If you want a more like for like replacement, we signed him in January :50:

He also offers more flexibility in that he’d be more than capable of playing as a McGregor-like 6 domestically if/when required.

Exactly what I thought of him..

Proper * me off this one..

Was thinking we'd go outside the box and maybe back to South America for some talent....but instead we're signing a past it Mooy because....well....he's free and wants to finally settle in Scotland..

Doesn't say much for our scouting. Ange said we've been patient and waiting.....for Mooy? Going in to the champion's league and this is our only centre mid signing.......wowsers..

I don't want to accuse Ange of "jobs for the boys" and doing Mooy a favour in the run up to the world cup..

But.. there is little other reasoning behind signing him.
