One of the few shows I can just sit and watch when bored regardless of what episode is on TV.

Aye there's a good few folk from The Sopranos that appeared in Goodfellas.

Aside from him, from memory, Beansy, Dr Melfi, Paulie, Christopher, Phil Leotardo, Larry Barese, Carmela's maw, Uncle Pat... sure there's more but can't remember.

I'm gonna start to rewatch the whole series, James Gandolfini is Tony Soprano, quite possibly the best acting ever seen in a TV series.

Just a couple of months ago I vowed I wasn’t watching it again for another decade.

Recently I’ve been watching an episode, then watching the relevant episode of ‘Talking Sopranos’ afterwards.

Next time I’m at the big Waterstones (Sauchiehall) I’m buying the T.S book.

I have never seen a single episode of this. Going by the posts on here I think I may be missing out.

For me it's the benchmark for all TV series, the acting and writing is off the charts, it's unpredictable and brilliant. :50:

I think one of the things that sets it apart is the character development, for example it would've been easy to give Tony's wife and kids bit parts, but that's not the case, you actually invest in the characters, they develop as the series goes on.

One criticism aimed at the show is that it plays up to the gangster sterotype, but again they are portrayed as human beings not just mindless thugs.

There's humour and tragedy, lol moments and * moments, nuff said, get it watched ! :67: :50:

I think the stereotype aspect is deliberate. All that bravado yet underneath most are crumbling like the rest of us.

It actually shone a light on male depression before it was actually accepted for men to open up.

The gangster stereotype was showing how men were supposed to be perceived in public and how it never ends well.

Yeah it shows their human side, and that's a good point about male depression, the show is so clever and multi layered, makes it compulsive viewing.

Just finished watching this at the weekend there, one of the best shows I've seen and will probably re watch quite a few times.
