Probably a bit under but still a significant amount..

Don't think a lot of our current crop will be on massive wages either like your Maeda's, O'Riley's, Bernabei's etc..

Bitton when he got his big contract was probably on more than all of the above and the likes of Jackie and maybe even Kyogo?

Yeah, done well so far. You could have envisioned at least 1 or 2 of Boli, Soro or Barkas hanging around to collect their wages, so getting them out the door early in the window is good business.

Ajeti has to be the absolute priority, as his wages are supposedly around 25K a week! Was on 60K at West Ham FFS.

Apparently both Rogic and Bitton were on about £18k a week. Which makes sense, Rogic turned down Saudi team because we paid more.

I wouldn’t have got rid of him but 3 year deal was just madness at this point.

Doesn’t say a lot about our faith in bringing any homegrown players through anytime soon either…

We pay far too much in wages in general though. Take Lewis Ferguson for example. Only getting 6k a week at Bologna. If we signed him we’d easily give him 10k and not really think anything of it.

Our wage bill exploded under Rodgers but we stagnated and eventually started going backwards. With us concentrating on cheap, young players to punt to England as well it’s baffling some of the wages we pay.

We probably need to offer higher wages to entice players to come to a crappy league. Still not as bad as the huns who have a ridiculous wage bill

10k based on what? I remember Hendry's wage slip being leaked and it worked out at 6k a week.

But teams from poorer leagues spend less and perform us at a higher level so it doesn’t really make sense.

If it was true it would just emphasise our poor recruitment though.

Players who aren’t good enough to begin with but paying them even more than they’re worth because it’s a poor league?

Because that’s similar to what we pay/paid to players at that level. That wage slip also had 10k in appearances for that month.

Our average wage is 17k. 8-12k is pretty normal for what we’d offer a first contract outside of the major deals.

Jota and CCV wouldn't be here if we were paying them buttons. Moussa Dembele was apparently one of our highest earners. How do you entice a player like that to come to Scotland unless you offer them high wages? Though apparently JJ isn't on high wages at all.

That it's difficult to attract some players to Scotland and they need a financial incentive sometimes?

Jota CCV and Dembele would’ve got the money we’re paying in a few leagues. By all accounts Dembele actually came here for lesser money than offered elsewhere because he wanted to develop.

The point is we pay far too high in general when compared to other clubs who outperform us. That value for money with our spending simply isn’t there.

And you see it every single year with players hanging about on big contracts refusing to leave because their options after leaving here is simply nowhere near as lucrative.

It's criminal for a player his age who's been out for age's with injuries and looked far slower..

We are on the right track again though since Ange has came in..

    Wage bill cut
A lot of deadwood getting punted
    Pretty young squad overall
Almost every player on very long contracts
Most of our buys are bargains

By the end of this window we'll likely have a smaller squad but 2 good player's competing for every position at the very least....and could even be more if we add an Almasi up top. Much more like it....but still a bit of work to be done to get there with Ajeti and Jullien etc still lingering about and the DM in particular that we desperately need..

Wasn't Larsson on 40k when he was a Celtic player?

They do. Just mad that huns overdo it.
The way they splash wages is mental. 40-50k a week where as we never go over our cap of like 30-35k.

    They never learn

Forrest as you already mentioned but giving a Bain an extension then next minute handing Siegrist 4 years.

That’s no even mentioning the McCarthy madness :giggle1:

Be interesting to see what our wage bill is like for this season cos I still think we’re absolutely miles away from where we should be competing even though we’re in a far better position squad wise now.

Bain can't get on a lot and I think it's just number's with him and being a good one about the dressing room..

Siegrist I don't mind. Won't be on bug wages and in a keeper's peak year's..

Forrest is a strange one but qualifies as homegrown and majorly successful and a senior head along with McGregor which is important....but I would've parted ways personally..

McCarthy I don't think Ange had a say in that whatsoever or Nicholson. Think we just wanted someone in with experience who was free when Broony was off and we barely had a squad at the time. Hindsight it's been a disaster that we probably should've seen coming..

Between Boli, Barkas (assuming we are paying nothing towards his wages), Soro, Bitton and Rogic we must have cut around £4.5mill from the wage bill.

Now of course the permanent signings of Jota and CCV maybe eaten into that but even if I'm being really generous I'd say they'd be on a combined yearly wage of £3mill.

If we can shift other guys like Bain, Jullien, Ajeti....maybe even McCarthy we could probably shave another wasteful £2.5mill off wage bill and help fund other moves and shoring up an upgrade in quality in depth whilst reducing a bloated squad.
