Can’t see him being here after the summer. However someone would need to come in first.

Or if you can trust rumours, passing a medical would be the thing…

He had one time needing to sprint back to cover and he was chronically slow. Everything else he’s such a * bonus for us to have as well, but I think the injuries have stripped him of every bit of acceleration he had, and he wasn’t blessed with pace at his best. Hope it’s not the case that, and I’m just reading into it too much, but that’s the fear for me.

I remember when he 1st signed and Lennon never played him against Cluj bcoz according to him he needed 4 or 5 games to get up to speed due to his size and it takes him a while to get going.
Think that was partly his issue last year, that he couldnt get that run to get rid of the rustiness.
He mite get it just now with Starfelt not being 100% yet or he may be away by the end of the week

He was actually fine today but if Starfelt can't play I'd expect Welsh to get game time ahead of him. Especially if he can't get fit across preseason.

That’s the biggest thing for me, everybody has put the point forward of CCV and Starfelt’s settled partnership but last season, when he was ‘fit’, Welsh was 3rd choice.

Welsh did fill in at RB and LB at times though, so may be a part of being trusted more there as a backup with a threadbare squad.

Welsh was first choice for a while and did fine at the start of last season, he was a key player in the initial games in all honesty. Obviously before CCV and Starfelt had arrived.

I really like Welsh mate, was of the opinion he didn’t deserve to be dropped and for a while after that Starfelt didn’t deserve a place instead of him. Ended up clear why Ange stuck with him because he was key to our style of play but still think he didn’t deserve, on form, to be dropped. However, a fully fit Julien is far better than him. And Julien says he was fully fit by January. And Welsh was ahead of him for Ange.

Saw Jullien play his only football against Raith Rovers and if that's him fully fit then we need to offload him ASAP. Maybe things have improved and that is why he got game time today but sort of doubt it in all honesty.

    Time will tell.

If he can get a run of 4 of 5 games over preseason and get rustyness of last 18 months off then he's head and shoulders above Welsh imo but I don't think Ange shares that opinion. Still think he'll be away before season starts anyway

Don't think he wasn't really fully fit tho. Hed been out 14 months. Theres fit and there match fit which was point I was making about Lennon comments from a few years ago about him being the type that needs 4 or 5 games to get going

Injury * the big man, sad to see him a shadow of the player he was.

Knowing Ange he’ll get his chance, I have a suspicion that his overall attitude/personality is the issue and not his ability.

Yeah I agree bout his attitude.

Was rumours that he was 1 of the ones Lennon was calling out during his drunken rant after ferencvaros game.

Comments last season about Bitton and his continually acting like a teenage girl on Instagram don't help.
