We have had some incredible players over say the past decade but for me Jota is that next level

 

I really like how he talks about Benfica. Shows the mentality that football is more about him or making money and that he values playing for special clubs.

Hope he eventually gets his time with Benfica but so glad he's with ourselves now. Going to be even better for us this season.

 

Yes and it shows he most likely won’t leave for a relegation fighting PL team. His specific reference to Tierney says to me he knows when playing for Celtic it can launch your career. IMO, Jota only wants to play for big clubs.

 

I was more referring to him having loyalty to clubs, but wouldn't disagree with the point you made either.

 

Yes definitely got and agree with your point about loyalty, and my point was more as an extension to this loyalty and that he’s not about to be off unless he goes to another big club.

 

If the moneys right for both parties, and it’s a promising career move he’ll go. And that’s ok.

 

That’s pretty much what we are saying, but he ain’t leaving for a defensive team playing to avoid relegation, he’ll go to another big club one day, in the meantime, he’ll be happy being the main guy in a big club playing in the Champions League with a manager who encourages him to be a better version of himself every day.

 

Celtic star Jota has unleashed a stinging verdict on VAR - insisting the technology will ruin football.

The controversial system is set to be rolled out in the Premiership when the league resumes in December following the World Cup in Qatar. Jota experienced Video Assistant Referees in Europe with Celtic last season, as well as the Portuguese top flight with Benfica and Spain's La Liga during a loan spell with Real Valladolid.



But the £6.3million star isn't a fan and believes it is destroying the beautiful game. He said: “I’ve heard about it coming to Scottish football but I’m thoroughly against VAR.




I don’t like it – I think it’s ruining football. It’s not up to me to make those decisions but that’s my personal opinion.

“Nowadays we just try to complicate what’s simple.

“It’s about everything to do with it. Football is about mistakes, it’s about errors. Everyone makes errors – I will make mistakes, the referees are going to make mistakes, the coaches are going to make mistakes.




That’s the beauty of this – because if there’s a mistake there’s someone who’s going to take that opportunity.”




Jota - who found the net 13 times for the Hoops last term - reckons constant VAR checks spoils goalscoring joy for players and fans.

He added: “The delaying is something I really don’t like.



If you score a goal in a place like Celtic Parkthe first thing you want to do is celebrate, so it doesn’t make sense.


I’m evaluating it from every angle – as a fan, as a footballer, everything. I just think it doesn’t make sense.

“But I guess we’re going to have to live with it.
