    90min understands Celtic are also continuing talks with Lommel over the loan signing of 23-year-old Souza. The midfielder left Flamengo to sign for the Belgian club aged 21 and spent last season out on loan at First Division A side Mechelen, helping them to an eighth-placed finish.

    This one just seems like such a mess...obviously every Celtic fan wants him here.

    But this whole situation regarding City Group involvement...at least with just this specific player seem to be really complicating things more so than previous signing we've made.

    I feel like there’s a mid-term plan to become the Scottish branch of the City group, even if there’s no direct ownership.

    Obviously would rather not but at the same time I dread them being involved with anyone else in this league instead.

    If it gives clearer path and access to a host of players thay get scooped up by group that are otherwise good talents but would likely never break into the City main squad I'd be interested in it.

    But literally that would be the only involvement I'd want...nothing further...we get to choose the players we want, then assuming said players are happy to come here, they do...City Group can't just throw players at us as they see fit.

    Even if they wanted to I don't think full ownership by the city group (or anyone else) would be possible while Desmond is alive, he's always been clear that his shares aren't for sale and he's never going to buy more to tip past the point of being our owner, so we always have to live within our means and have a sustainable business model, no sugardaddy *. It's always possible they could buy someone elses shares to get a stake in the club, but they might not view it as worth it if they don't have more control.
