“He did amazing last season and I’m here to support him too.

“There are two Portuguese players in Scotland now, we’re here to represent our country.

“He was always so good. You don’t know Jota! When he was young there was a big difference between him and the others.

“I asked him about Scottish football and about Hibs too. He gave me some good advice, told me some good things about Hibs.

“He said besides Rangers and Celtic he thought Hibs was more or less the third strongest team in Scotland.

“He helped me so much to decide to come here.

“Of course he’s in a different town but he’s my friend. I’ve known him for a long time. Maybe since I was 10.

“But I hope this season when we play against him we win.

“Everyone knows he is a machine but we are here to stop him.”

Reporter hoping for a wee scoop…

“Do I think he will stay at Celtic? I guess. I don’t know but I think yes.” :ange2:

Mental how many player's or journalists say he was the standout by miles in the Benfica academy..

I honestly don't even think we've touched the side's with him yet..

Said it before but he genuinely has one of the best first touches I've ever seen from a Celtic player. It's beyond ridiculous..

Anytime I seen him for Portugal in the youth tournaments he was always the best player. Like several levels above everycunt else.

Said it towards the end of the season but he’s like Naka with more pace. His dribbling stands out because he’s quick as well but his passing and crossing is ridiculous.

Aye I actually watched him in the tournament just before he came to us..

Think they went out in the semi's and one of their player's literally tried to walk it in and * up and they lost :giggle1:

His first touch. Close control. The way he moves with the ball..

    He's outstanding..

Youth level is different though. Calvin Miller was a standout at that level and Aidan Nisbet before him, although saw less of him.

I reckon Jota at one point just before joining us will have thought it might not happen. Yet another reason I reckon he's happy here.

A lot of people seem to forget that in between him being very highly rated at Benfica and him coming to us he had a very unsuccessful loan spell at Real Valladolid where he didn't impress, only managed a single goal and the team got relegated. Pretty sure that was the catalyst for Benfica being ok with having a buy option in this deal in the first place, they thought he was never going to make it. It's a testament to him and how hard he's worked this year that we're really starting to see him reach the potential he showed at underage level.

Aye football can be a cruel career for all the potential riches.

Particularly that move out of the development phase. So many kids have their life torn to pieces at that stage. And those that get to stay see more of those they came through with getting chopped each year.

But fair play to Jota he didn't hang about making his mark here and now likely feels those times are well and truly behind him. Long may it continue.

The scary thing about Jota is he is still 2 or 3 years away from his prime.

Get that £8 mill release clause slapped on...:86:

Translated from The Record in Portugal

Jota will sign for four seasons with Celtic, recorded. The agreement between the parties is closed and should be made official soon. Those responsible for the Glasgow emblem will transfer 7.5 million euros to the coffers of the Luz club, which will still have 30 percent of the Portuguese winger's pass.
Thus, the negotiations between the parties come to a successful conclusion. The 23-year-old was highly sought after at Celtic, and he himself has always expressed an interest in continuing to represent the Scottish club. After a season in which he ended up being decisive in winning the title, Jota always considered that it would be good for him to continue at Celtic. A wish that puts an end to the 15-year connection between the striker and Clube da Luz.

100% mate. I said it a few times last season but he is genuinely the most talented player I've seen at our club for 20 odd years. Equal to VVD in the way he just has everything. Vision, good height, strength, quick feet, outstanding crosser and as good a first touch as anyone on the planet. Improve his long distance shooting and he'll be elite.

Absolutely no reason he can't have a career trajectory like Bernardo Silva and he'll be thinking the same thing.

Agree mate, he’s got everything in his locker at elite level except for that last bit of banging them in from the edge of the box. If Kewell can work with him on that, then he can go to the level of a top 4 team across the big 5 competitions. Personally I think he just needs to add that little bit more strength through the hips/legs so he gets the power and doesn’t lose technique.

I reckon Kewell will love working with him and Abada.

It's really not hard to tell between fan accounts with a few hundred followers and the very few reputable sources, such as journalists etc.

He said something along the lines of there being two Portuguese players in the league next season.

He isn't slow at all but if he was a bit quicker and was a regular scorer from range he'd be in the Portuguese main squad..
