This is just cruel at this point. If we're not going to get him I don't want to keep seeing graphs and charts about how good the big man is :54:

Sure we will get Jota signed and sealed. My main advice to him this season is - shoot low ! He will get a heap of goals if he does. He may need some help from the coaching team to get it right.

When you look at who’s in for him, they are either:

a)looking at different targets because they can’t afford €9m

b)already have a top level DM who they would have to offload, or

c)can’t at this stage offer champions league football.

I hope your feelings are running true.

Hope so, mate. For me this transfer above all else would be the game changer. Not just because of what he'd bring to the team but what it would say about us as a club and where we're at. Truth is he is the kind of player we should be signing (and who should want to sign for us) if we're to be at the level we want to be, like an Ajax.

His defensive stats are incomparable to almost anyone else at our level...in the position even McGregor doesn't come close to him.

Would he could help achieve and unlock by allowing some like McGregor to focus more further up the pitch could seriously see Ange take Celtic to a new level.

If get him, the excitement I have for next season which is already at new highs, would just be completely ridiculous to the point I'd be like a crack addict on withdrawals just waiting for our season to start and that * CL group stage draw to happen

Apparently PSV forum(from Twitter) saying he’s signing there by the end of the week. :55:

    Wouldn't be surprised.

Mentioned earlier in the thread but Ibrahim Sangare is being continually linked with every top 10 EPL side.

McGregor isn't a defensive midfielder, that's why his stats for defensive actions are pretty poor and match the eye test of him not being good defensively. He's very capable of playing the anchor playmaker role for us in Scotland in games we dominate, but having him there in Europe is begging for trouble and leaves us massively exposed. Not faulting him, it just isn't his game.

On paper Souza would be our best signing in years and looks exactly like what we need. I've resigned myself to not getting him though. But any competent defensive midfielder who can play a bit would help us massively in Europe next season. Bitton was the closest thing we had (which isn't saying much) and now he's not even here. Look at the added steel Wanyama gave us in the 2012 CL campaign; the big man was never the best technician, but he helped us massively.

In comparison, Souza looks levels above.

I think we are all desperate for the signings to flood in.

In every other season since iv been watching Celtic it’s been like that for me, more so through necessity for the looming qualifying rounds.

This summer will be different, there won’t be signings rushed in for the last week in July. If this guy signs it will be down to good scouting and for a deal that suits the club.

If not I’m sure the boss has a plan B, he has identified all the same areas that need improvement as us in the stands. Patience will be key.

The problem with this question is that, assuming you are talking about them playing the same role, we have no idea what Jullien is like in that left sided CB position. So even if he did somehow get back to his best he might not be able to play there to any great degree, we just don't know. My feeling is that Starfelt would be better there though.

Jullien v CCV would be a more direct comparison and that would be CCV all day long for me.

    https://thecelticstar.com/ange-postecoglou-goes-the-extra-mile-to-bring-in-vinicius-souza/

Rumour has it that Ange Postecoglou has made personal assurances to Celtic loan target Vinicius Souza of guaranteed game-time with Celtic, as the Celtic manager looks to fend of competition from the player’s representatives first choice destination of the Eredivisie, with both PSV Eindhoven and Ajax now said to be in the mix when it comes to signing the Brazilian defensive midfielder in this transfer window.

PSV is the apparent preferred destination for those planning their client’s next career step, but this is at odds with his current employer, as the City Group’s preference for where Souza plays his football next season has Celtic top of their list, with Champions League football only a minor factor for consideration, and instead a great deal of trust in the Celtic manager and his coaching methods the primary reason for their preference in Souza choosing Scotland and Celtic rather than the Netherlands and PSV.

The final decision very much lies with the player himself of course, but it’s fair to say the City Group do wield a great deal of influence when it comes to their player’s career prospects, and it appears they feel the player would benefit more from a season under the coaching of Ange Postecoglou than any other destination on offer, this despite the player and his representatives being somewhat reticent on the move based on the standard of domestic competition rather than any reluctance regarding Celtic as a club.

Celtic are said to be very keen on getting this deal done, hence Postecoglou’s willingness to give assurances over game-time, and are more than willing – given the perceived top-level ability of the player – to take Souza to the club for 12 months on a loan deal basis only and with no option to buy attached.

With midfield earmarked as a key position for strengthening at Celtic in this transfer window, but with substantial outlays already made on Cameron Carter-Vickers following his loan spell from Spurs turning into a permanent arrangement, and another £6m plus about to be spent to ensure Jota returns to Celtic as a permanent acquisition following his temporary move from Benfica last season, it appears Celtic are willing to grasp the opportunity to bring in a top quality player that the club may otherwise be unable to afford, even if it only likely to be for a year, and are doing everything they can to persuade Vinicius Souza that Celtic is the ideal place for the Brazilian’s talents to flourish next season.

Ange Postecoglou is going the extra mile on this one so Celtic are far from out of the running, watch this space…

Ange must be proper keen on him because he doesn't seem the type to try and convince players

Think Ange knows the importance of a top quality 6 and this guy fits every bill required..

Whether we get him is another story but if the talk is that the city group want him to come here (which i can believe).....then we're in with a chance..

If it isn't Souza....we need a top quality one in regardless..
