If Ajax have serious interest in him that’s where he’ll go.

Ajax will surely be the go to place.

Can't fault a lad for going there if they are interested.

It's quite frustrating because outside of Ajax and PSV I feel the Dutch league is pretty average. So the argument about the league is annoying. Those two are far out in front. Feyenoord I'm never impressed with.

Of course its still a better league but the gap isn't that huge. Like of Go Ahead Eagles, Ado Den Haag etc these teams are pretty dross.

Long term I'd like us to rival the likes of Ajax more consistently for players, but I do get why they are an attractive proposition, for a multitude of reasons.

Highly doubt it.. if they want him they will lash out 10/12 mill with the view of moving him on for double/triple that in 2/3 years

Annoyingly whilst the league it self may not be up to much as a whole...players of a certain level will see the sheer amount of moves and careers players have gone on to have if they put in a good season with Ajax.

If we can get guys like Lawwell Jnr and Ange to stay long term, probably Lawwell Jnr more than Ange as hed likely be the one recruiting and scouting young players we could hopefully reach some sort of Scottish version of Ajax but right now weve got nowhere nearthat type of appeal.

To start getting close to it we'd need regular CL football...dare I say....every season.

Aye I think, right now, it’s very difficult to compete with Ajax. However, we should be able to compete with them if we get the club properly restructured and start to perform a lot better in Europe. Ajax always produced good youngsters but the massive fees they are now getting have really come off the back of the Champions League semi final run. £60m for both De Jong and De Ligt and then £45m for Ziyech and £40m for Van Den Beek. That’s £200m on 4 players. Now it’s looking likely they’ll get another £120m plus from the sales of Antony, Timber and Gravenberch.

The fees have always been significantly higher than ourselves for received fees but since that run, it’s been some sort of catalyst for them to ask for massive massive fees.

I’m calling Ajax interest out as bullshit. PSV were/are interested and of course Ajax by default becomes interested. It’s exactly like the media naming Celtic and the hun in the same sentence, it’s lazy journalism. I’ve seen some Ajax fans saying they don’t need another 6. Well I’ve convinced myself this is true :fear:

He has too much of a quality name to come here. Teams would just refuse to play us if we had a guy in midfield whose name literally sounds like someone with a speech impediment trying to say ‘vicious bruiser’.

Celtic face a fresh fight from Dutch giants Ajax in the battle to land Brazilian ace Vinicius Souza.

Parkhead boss Ange Postecoglou is hunting new recruits for the campaign with the highly-rated midfielder on the radar

Souza has a host of options at his disposal as he steps up the career ladder having spent last term on loan at KV Mechelen from fellow Belgians Lommel.

The 22-year-old’s signature is sought after with Turkish giants Fenerbahce, Club Brugge and Italians Bologna in the race.

PSV Eindhoven are also keen and their Dutch rivals Ajax have also now joined the joust for Souza’s services.

The Samba star is keen for European football at his next destination.

And, just like Celtic and Brugge, Ajax are in position to offer the player automatic entry to the group stages of the Champions League after pipping PSV to the Eredivisie title last term under the management of new Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag.

Former Brugge boss Alfred Schreuder is taking over and sources in Belgium have confirmed to Record Sport he’s keen on capturing Souza from Lommel, who are owned by City Football Group.

Celtic remain strong contenders in the chase and a decision is expected next week on where the kid heads next in his career.

Think this one is a no go sadly. Hopefully have someone just as exciting lined up if so.

Has always felt like one that's too good to be true. Would be an incredible signing, even on loan, but not expecting it at all.
