Guy has talent and pace, but his decision making is really poor. However, thats something that a good coach may be able to rectify. He just seems way too fragile.
He has had a lot of chances and rarely delivered. Clock is ticking bigtime for him and in all honesty, I reckon the ship has sailed.
He has a relatively long term contract, likely be low dollar, we wont be able to punt him due to injury rap sheet, so get him on a major bulk up program this summer, and have someone get inside his head regarding decision making and if that fails, then its going to be a series of loans.

It benefits us in several ways. First there is a loan fee, secondly they will be paying part of his wages. Then on the playing side we have the possibility he tears it up like Christie at Aberdeen and comes back ready for first team football, or he is a more sellable asset at least.

All of that is dependent on the specialists getting to the root cause of his injury issues once and for all right enough, which seems a big ask, but if they do and he makes it through pre season ok a loan would be the best option for all parties.

The club didn’t want him going on loan just now. They wanted him here to look after him and help him try and get the help his body needs.

This isn’t just a regular case of an injury prone player.

    Thought he was injured again?

Just seen the training video and he was there, as was wee Jamesy.

    Ideal.

When he did it he looked really upset so thought he might have been out for a while. But sure Ange said the week after that it wasn't a bad one.

MIKEY JOHNSTON has a new agent - and the Celtic forward is in big-name company.

He's joined the Avid Sports and Entertainment Group also currently represent former Rangers loanee Aaron Ramsey.

Celtic winger James Forrest and Rangers defender Leon Balogun are also clients.

Johnston has been at Celtic his entire career and made his professional debut for the Hoops in May 2017.

The winger has struggled to lock down a spot in the Celtic team over the years and his progress has often been hampered by injury.

Despite a campaign that more injury woe, the 23-year-old played his part as the Hoops secured the League Cup and the Scottish Premiership this past season.

Johnston made 20 appearances under Ange Postecoglou, but couldn't find the net.

Johnston is contracted to Celtic until 2025 and will be hoping to stake his claim for a bigger role in Postecoglou'sside in the year ahead.

Mike seriously played 20 times under Ange?

Makes it sound like he was heavily involved in our season but I don't recall him playing at all.

Which is a crying shame because I really did have hopes he'd develop into a better version of Forrest down the left.

Needs a full season loan deal playing every week. That would be his last chance to impress for us and if he didnt id punt him

Anyone within the SPL would do well with him.

But all of them rightly, would be concerned over injury record. So yeah, it probably would be tough to get anyone to take the chance.

I'd have figures teams like Dundee Uted and Ross County could have been good options but I don't think either will be doing well next season..

Cant believe im saying it but maybe he could do well under McInnes?

There was interest from at least one SPFL club in January, but he was reluctant to go. His change in agency this summer would suggest to me that he knows now that his time is up.

If we sign another attacking player in this window, he’d be sixth choice (behind the new guy, Jota, Maeda, Abada and Forrest). I’d even argue that I’d rather see Kyogo utilised off the left side before seeing Johnston playing.

A year’s loan would make sense as long as it’s at a good level.

Under other circumstances I’d agree with the last part, but the last thing Mikey Johnston needs is to play on Killie’s pitch every second week.

Surely Hibs would be interested in him? He's not a bad football player. he just needs game time, consistency and an injury free spell.

The boy is not good enough. It really is as simple as that. The likes of Aberdeen, Hibs or even Hearts would be a good move for him. That would be his level.
