Was it like this last summer?

I wasn’t as active on here last summer so whenever we signed someone it came as a surprise for me.

I assumed we were just in and out quick - no * about and no giving the media a sniff.

Kyogo definitely came out of nowhere I’m sure.

 

Might be misremembering, but I think Kyogo was the only one who came out of nowhere. Everyone else was rumoured for weeks (CCV technically came out of nowhere when he signed, but we had links to him previously in the window)

Mixed bag, was either out of nowhere or extremely protracted.

 

The Kyogo one was mad. Don't think we were linked with him at any point, then we announce his signing in the middle of the night. Mind waking up and seeing a tweet in Japanese about him signing for us.

 

IIRC, we went through several targets before landing on a player. For example I think we missed (or were rumoured to miss) a few RBs before getting Juranovic.

Starfelt dragged out a bit too and there was some frustration because if we’d made the deal quicker we might’ve been in better shape starting the season. I think there may have been another CB (whose name I forget, beginning with V possibly?) that we were linked with and the ‘choice’ seemed to come down to one or the other and we went Starfelt.

Giakoumakis seemed to take a while too although maybe both parties were happy to wait a bit for that one.

Signing players from Japan seems to be fairly straightforward, so you can probably categorise them on their own.

Abada was a very smooth one although we all know the connection there is a reliable one.

Edit: I suppose the point to make here is the CEO at the time was essentially sacked not long after that window, although I assume the current regime basically done most of the work at the time and will do better with a clear mandate this year.

 

The best type of signings.

 

Gut feeling says this won't happen, but oh me oh my will I get a stauner if it does.

 

I think we should be looking at players in Finland, Iceland, and the Baltic states as well. They must have good young players there willing to come to Celtic to succeed and be hungry to develop their football careers. Would not cost a bomb either.

 

surely we should be searching all markets for good, viable options? Would much rather see us buy a suitable player that will improve us rather than target a particular market due to their nationality.

 

Unless they are Argentinian or Brazilian then fire away.

 

Think he was meaning aswell as the obvious European market, after the success we’ve had due to Ange going into the untapped Japanese/Asia market, there is probably quite a few other markets that a lot of teams don’t delve into due to lack of knowledge rather than quality of the player, think as much as I hate the wee *, was the Finnish or Icelandic market the Huns got Morelos from

Outside Jota, couldn’t care less who we sign except this guy. Get this guy done.

 

Media now reporting that Fenerbahce don’t have the finances to pull this signing off.

 

If the reports of Fenerbahce pulling out are true, we should have a free run at this transfer.
