That handball in the semi-final was one of the worst bits of blatant cheating/"honest mistakes" from the masons in black in years.

Guys like commons, mulgrew etc was a clique that was long over due getting the * out the club by the time Rodgers knocked them out the club.

However, combine that with John Collins, I think deila had a really tough time of it.
Collins had run ins before with players at Hibs, none other than Scott brown as well (I'm sure there was a rebellion at Hibs against his methods).
Collins was more like a drill sergeant than a hardened fitness coach, by all accounts.
On paper they (Collins and deila) would seem like a good march, pro fitness, diets, 24/7 athletes and all that, but the way Collins goes about things just rubs people up wrongly.
Unfortunately for deila, Collins was pushed on him(surely no one still believe he was deila actually choosing. That supposed dinner between the pair was no more than s meet and greet before they both got on with their jobs) and that just compounded the clique at the club to rise against.

Deila with less authority and reputation as Rodgers, couldn't over come the situations and found himself on the wrong side of things here.

Great man, great attitude and approach to the game, sets up a teams very very similar to Rodgers same approach etc.
Just right man, wrong time I think.

As for his MLS cup win, good on the lad. Wins silverware every where he goes.
    Well deserved.

I think people often forget about the players he gave chances to and signed. I would say his tenure was actually a success in the bridge from Lennon to Rodgers. Players were fitter and he left the club with a strong squad.
In 2 seasons he brought in some decent players at fairly low prices, the most expensive was Jozo at £3m. There was a few duffers liker Ciftci, Allan and Scepovic but compare that to the amount of of guff that came in under Rodgers and Lennon, little money was spent on the wasters.

Ronny Deila could be set for a return to British football after being interviewed by Blackburn Rovers, according to reports in his homeland.

The New York City FC boss has reportedly held talks over replacing another former Celtic manager in Tony Mowbray.

Norwegian outlet Nettavisen claim the 46-year-old is a contender for the job after having an interview.

The report adds that he's keen to get back into European football and is open to leaving MLS as a result.

Former Scotland striker Duncan Ferguson is currently the bookies' favourite for the job, with the Norwegian just behind him.

Deila succeeded Neil Lennon at Celtic Park in 2014 and went on to win two Premiership titles and a League Cup.

He quit shortly after being beaten on penalties by then-Championship side Rangers in a Scottish Cup semi-final.

His next job was back home at Vålerenga before moving on to the US.

Deila added more silverware to his collection with the MLS Cup.

Belgian media saying he’s about to become the new Standard Liege manager.

    Hope he’s a success.

    * me, stating the obvious with that aren't they

I'd honestly still take the guy back at some point.

He got shafted by the board and assuming we allowed him to do things his way, properly, I reckon he would be an even bigger success than he was first time around.

But we have Ange, I'm not for a moment advocating we change it.

Hope he does really well in Belgium with Standard Liege. Anytime you see Celtic been brought up with him you clearly can tell he has a real appreciation and affection for us from his time as manager.

He would have been an excellent choice Scotland manager. Good luck to Ronny. A winner wherever he goes.

Was reading a few tweets about this earlier and all the New York fans were gutted to see him go.

Probably a smart move from him to leave on a high and always be remembered fondly by the people of New York for what he achieved. Guy will never have to buy a bagel again.

Hopefully he does well at Leige.
