Don’t think he will ever make it here but if we can make some profit in him then it’s a win.

I think he’s good enough to be a squad player here.

He had a particularly bad game at home to Dundee Utd when Abada scored the last minute winner.

Apart from that I’ve been impressed.

 

I think a full season out on loan would be perfect. It will definitely tell us the answer I would say.

 

Could see him being a bit like a Niall McGinn - never good enough to start here but potentially excelling at a club like Aberdeen. Good move all round it it comes off.

 

Will never be good enough to be a player here.

Canny remember the last time I seen a player for us so bad positionally and tactically.

 

Great bit of business for everyone. Think it's too soon for anyone to say whether he has a future as a squad player. The guy hasn't done too bad. People happy to give hatate and maeda credit for signing off the back off a full season in Japan, yet scales played more less a whole season at rovers and landed in Glasgow. Either way a full season at Aberdeen and I reckon we will have a good squad player or will recoup maybe even make a few quid making his move to Aberdeen permanent. All dependant on Goodwin not getting the door at some point too.

A player that really surprised me in terms of positional and tactically was Jeremy Toljan, you'd expect a full back from Dortmund not to leave his inside channel wide open at all times

ABERDEEN are set to launch a move for Celtic defender Liam Scales.

Dons boss Jim Goodwin has identified the need for a natural left-sided centre half since taking the Pittodrie job in March.



And he sees Scales as the man to come in to bring proper balance to his defence.






Celtic signed the 23-year-old from Shamrock Rovers on a four-year deal last summer but he struggled to break into Ange Postecoglou’s side regularly, making just eight starts.

Scales is desperate to play first-team football so will consider a move away from Parkhead if Aberdeen can agree a deal to bring him to the Granite City.

Ideally, Goodwin would like to take him on a permanent contract but may have to explore a loan-to-buy arrangement similar to the one which brought Ross McCrorie north from Rangers two years ago.




Nonetheless, he’s hoping to get a deal over the line in the coming days as the first part of the Dons revolution he’s got planned for this summer.

The guy played and scored for Celtic. I’d have gave both nuts for that (after I was 30, maybe not before that)

 

Didn’t realise he was 23, thought he was a lot younger. A good move to test himself but don’t think he’ll be back here.
