Jota doesn't come back! According to the newspaper A Bola, the Scottish Champion Celtic will advance to the purchase of the Extremo. Remember that the Scottish club has a purchase option of 7.5 million for 70% of the player's pass.

Most likely 30% of profit rather than a flat out 30%. Well worth it either way for a guy of his talent right now and scope to improve in the future though.

Think people also forget these days how big Benfica are. They’re legit a monster of a club man.

In terms of actual die hard, generational supporters they’d rival most. Think only Bayern have more supporters club membership than them or something mental like that.

    They're a massive club..

I grew up in an area people called 'Little Portugal' in London all the bar's/cafés etc were Portuguese and a lot of my pal's then from school and my estate. Benfica were easily the most supported team..

Think I've read they have big supports in the likes of India and New York year's ago but could be wrong. It's massive anyhow..

Thierry Henry said similar about France when they played each other in the Euro 2016 final. Said basically growing up every group of pals would’ve had at least one Portuguese friend etc. Communities, bars, shops all over France.

Probably tabloid * but I'd tell Benfica to do one in regards to any type of sell on clause at 30%. What has he done before joining us?

In 2005 a Lille - Benfica set the record for the biggest attendance of a French club in European competitions. Link to UEFA website below if anyone's interested.

    https://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsl...e5a-1000--paris-roused-by-portuguese-passion/

    Paris roused by Portuguese passion
An astonishing turnout of Portuguese helped LOSC Lille Métropole set a new attendance record against SL Benfica at the Stade de France last night.

    (...)

Lille's previous UEFA Champions League game against Manchester United FC attracted 66,470 fans, which was the biggest crowd for a French club playing at home in a European tie. That mark stood for just three weeks after 76,000 supporters packed into France's national arena to witness Tuesday's goalless draw.

    (...)

It is believed that more than 40,000 of those present last night were supporters of the Eagles. Approximately 5,000 had travelled from Portugal, while the rest were expatriates, mainly from the Paris area, but also from other French towns and nearby countries with large Portuguese communities such as Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands.

    (...)

It made for a surreal atmosphere on the streets prior to kick-off, as hordes of Benfica fans - some conversing in French, others in Portuguese - descended on Saint-Denis. On virtually every corner salesmen seemed to be doing a roaring trade in Portuguese flags and Benfica scarves. Finding a stand selling Lille merchandise was a far harder task.

If he had done much more, you would be paying 120M€ like Atletico did for João Félix. Not 7M€.

The buy option was agreed at 7M€ for 70%. Nothing particularly out of the ordinary if the selling club believes that the young player may still achieve a nice career.

I think that's generally the going rate and let's be honest £6m for this guy is a bargain.

    Incredible mate.

Any other good youngsters or players at Benfica you think could be available for us this summer that will be affordable?

Sure, let's pass up the chance of keeping one of the most exciting young talents we have seen in years, and a pretty much guaranteed multi million pound profit on top down the line, so that we can instead keep 100% of the £0 we would then sell him for...

Imo still doesn't warrant 30% sell on on top of a £7m euro fee. Think he is great but that will be a big dent in any profit.

So we should bend over backwards and get shafted? The 7m euro fee is fine but anything over a 10% sell on is extortionate

I am not sure if we will give a chance to Nuno Santos (23y old currently loaned to Paços de Ferreira). He can play either as an 8 (box to box) or 10. I'd give him a spot in our squad easily but I can see him being sold for an affordable fee. I believe he would be a great addition to your squad, if you need a center midfield.

Apparently we are trying to sign Enzo Fernández (River Plate) and Sangaré (PSV) to play in our midfield. Each of them ~20M€. And we have a generation of very talented 17-20y olds (that just won the UEFA Youth League). Would not be surprised to see Nuno Santos leave this summer.

Take your pick, it's that or we don't get him at all. Which would you prefer? The sell on will almost certainly have been part of our original buy out option from the very start, so it's not like they are springing it on us at the last minute or trying to be difficult now. We either agree to it or walk away from the deal and lose out on the player and any profit at all.

Not sure why people are getting so put off by the alleged 30% sell on.

We ended up getting a relative pittance for Edouard, after letting his contract run. Would you regard him as a poor bit of business?

I’d be delighted if we got Jota on a 5 year deal, the potential profit doesn’t bother me.

It’s time to start living in the present.

Your missing the point mate, you keep going on about profit but let's say we buy him at £6.5 million with a 30% sell on fee and then we punt him for £15 million, how do we replace him with a £4 million profit?
