Legend is such an overused tag when it comes to anything, especially footballers. I love Rogic and he came up trumps time and time again for us but you use the Legend tag for heroes like Henrik or McStay.

Rogic was a fantastic servant and will be missed.

In that case create a GOAT bracket for McGrory, Stein, the Lions and Larsson. :34:

Rogic imo at least is 100% a legend. Like someone mentioned above I think people underestimate just how great a period the past decade has been in the clubs history. Easily our second most successful era in 130 odd years, to be a key part of that puts you in the legend bracket for me.

    No chance ffs.

Rogic couldn't lace the boots of the Lions, Henke, McStay or even Broony for that matter.

He needs a kicker to get that title.

Broony is a nine in a row captain.

Henke is a euro finalist with a golden boot.

McStay is a one club legend who captained us at EVERY level... And just about scrapes it.

    The Lions are immortal.

Love Rogic. But absolutely NO * CHANCE.

In fact, such talk not only diminishes the achievements of our true legends, but diminishes the standing of the club.

    Aberdeen type patter.

    No offence OP.

He’s written his name into Celtic folklore on more than one occasion, winning 16 trophies in the process. People will talk about his achievements for years to come.

Think it’s hard to call a player so fresh in the memory a legend, people struggled with calling Broony one at the beginning. But, once the dust settles, what he achieved for the club will be the stuff of legends.

    Legend? No
    Cult Hero? 100%

I love the guy, and I mean love him, but the only player I'd put in that category in recent history is Brown. McGregor will go down a legend once he retires as well.

That bracket is already called "Legend" though.

Rogic is a Celtic great, a club Icon, that's the level below legend.
GOAT by definition would be just the ONE person, the greatest of all time for Celtic. we can argue that another day, but Rogic is neither GOAT nor Legend at Celtic.

Brown only made it to Legend status for the fact he captained us to 9 in a row and to a quadruple treble.
Had he not done either of those, he wouldn't be a legend.

He must do something special though. Captain us deep in to the later stages of Europe, captain us to a treble etc.
Just being captain for a few years won't cut it for me.

That or at least go on to coach and manage us to titles (plural).

Without Rogic, Broony may not have won those trophies though. He was the captain but every single one of those players who were involved in any of the 4 trebles deserve the same plaudits as him imo. Rogic just happened to be a part of all 4.

How can you call Rogic a cult hero though? Paddy McCourt is a cult hero, Rogic is at the very least a Celtic great and iconic mainstay in one of the most successful periods in our history.

Like Score the winner in a Scottish cup final to finish off an invincible treble after being one of the best in that team for a full season and being the creative fulcrum for a further three trebles?

So you would make Griffiths get the same plaudits as Brown and Rogic for the trebles, as in Griffiths is a Celtic Legend?

Yeah for me he is a legend, a big part of the most successful decade in our history.

As already mentioned it's only a word and down to each persons interpritation of that word.

Not only captains that are legends mate, guys that have done something for us that 99% of players in our history can’t say they contributed to us are for me. Whether that’s ability, achievements, special quality as a player, longevity and loyalty towards a club, guys that done special moments for us that will live in legend.

Honestly think a lot of fans don’t realise quite how special a decade this has been, and the guys that have been there and majorly been part of the reason why it has been that special deserve there names up there with the rest of them.

We’re living through something that’s below only the Lions in our history. That doesn’t produce only the one legend for me.

Maybe that's a downside to the club having true legends such as the Lions?

I just cant put the squad that won the quadruple treble, ALL at the same level as the Lions. Some are close to it, only one currently is there (Brown).
To blanket say that any player that was here for a prolonged period during the quadruple treble, should be classed a legend is mental.

Leigh Griffiths, a club legend? Really?

Griffiths totally falls down and longevity and loyalty to the club. There is no way he can be in the same bracket as guys like Brown, McGregore, Forrest, Rogic and Lustig.

The Lions themselves you have issues like that though, is Ronnie Simpson in the same category as Jinky for you?

Players actions towards the club can also take you out of Legendary status because Neil Lennon was in that bracket and firmly removed himself now.
