The new version of Mulan has no songs in it.

The person who submitted Mulan originally went with the Disney version but it doesn’t let me add videos from YouTube Kids to our playlists for whatever reason.

So we had to go with that alternative version.

Even setting the Mulan one aside, a case could be made for at least 5/6 others that also are not from 'Musicals'.

But... i get that it's probably just me being kinda AR about these details, so... :p

Probably giving the game away here, and the reasoning was already explained above anyway, but I don’t get your point about Mulan, @Taz. Someone making some sort of fan-edit video (that’s alluded to in the title of the video itself) with the original song playing over stitched together clips from the live-action remake doesn’t make the song not from a musical - it’s literally the original version of the song, which is from a musical. The footage playing in the background is immaterial.

It wasn't just that one though @Moustache as there are 5/6 at least that are questionable.

The version of Mamma Mia for instance, is the original ABBA song and that version is not one that has been performed as part of the musical, either on stage or on film. If looking to the film for example, it's Meryl Streep that is credited as the performer, not ABBA. So, the legitimacy of the use of this ABBA version is questionable.

Compared to the Letter From America or December 1963 versions that has been taken from the respective jukebox musicals, rather than pushing the original Proclaimers or Frankie Valli & Four Seasons versions respectively.

    That's a big difference. :40:

But as I posted earlier, I get that it's probably just me that is being kinda * retentive about this, :58: :56:

A jukebox musical uses previously released or pre-existing songs and either retrofitting them or forming the narrative around them, rather than new songs/music being originally created specifically.

So for example, Across the Universe uses all songs that were originally written/performed/released by the Beatles, then along came * Clement and Ian La Frenais (who wrote Porridge, the Ronny Barker prison sitcom for anyone old enough to remember, lol) and wrote a story, telling the story of the 1960's through the eyes of a group of friends, forming the narrative designed to include those pre-existing Beatles songs to help push the story forward.

Other examples from the ones being featured in this comp would include the likes of Sunshine on Leith (using previously released songs by the Proclaimers), Jersey Boys (primarly the Four Seasons but others also from that era) and Mamma Mia (using the songs of ABBA).
