Literally the only * who’d try and replace Brendan Rodgers with Neil Lennon as Celtic manager.

Jobs for the boys. An absolute cancer at every level of Scottish football.

    I don’t know what’s worse.

That he ruined everyone’s day by announcing the appointment after the Scottish Cup Final, or that he spoke so brazenly about patching everyone else’s CV.

Amazing that people genuinely believe we benefitted as a club by having him as our CEO.

It's the reason why I don't really want to give the board any credit with appointing Ange.

For me, they got very, very lucky with Ange. They only appointed him originally as they had no plan B when Howe turned us down, and Ange was available due to the city links.

Now, Ange has turned out to be a monumental success, but that's all down to him, not the board.

    Also * Neil Lennon.

He was a desperate back up option they hoped could work.

They absolutely didn’t think he could do what he’s done or he’d have been first choice.

However, I give credit that in that case they had options they knew they would want if what they really wanted wasn’t an option. It’s very rare for us to have a plan B or C.

The backup plan has turned out to be the best thing that’s happened to us, because Plan A couldn’t have done it.

I was all for Lenny coming in and I couldn’t defend that at the time.

Sheer incompetence, just said about us having different options with Howe saying no and it being Ange. You should always plan for any outcome, not even looking at any options is brazenly incompetent.

Honestly, when will Lennon just let it go. He obviously wasn't popular among the players or the other coaches.

The Ange appointment reminded me of season 98'/99' when we made a similar panic appointment in Dr Jo Venglos about a week before the season started. Everyone was in uproar....wanted Fergus McCann out the door....booed him unfurling the league flag etc etc.

Dr Jo done no bad considering what he was up against. Brought in Lubo, signed Viduka aswell, nearly won the league and narrowly lost out in the Cup Final.

The Ange appointment blows them all out the water though. Even that defeat against the huns there cant take away from the incredible job the man's done. Just got to get over the line now and we'll be setting off fireworks all over glasgow....and we should hire a plane trailing a banner saying "naw we cannae * see yees....know yer place ya thick as pig * *"

    Yes I've been planning it

It's like he doesn't even remember how bad a season it was. Wasn't it the first time we had 4 consecutive league games without a win in 20 years? Losing at home to St Mirren, dropping points everywhere. Losing to County who were not as strong as they are this season. Deila got sacked for less and has shown zero bitterness. It's the ego Lennon has on him. Just can't hack the fact he * on his legacy

First i just let him go in my mind, then after all his spouting i started to dislike him. Now i just feel sorry for him as i genuinelly believe that he's not right in the head.

Lennon thought he was bigger than Celtic is the conclusion I came down to.

When Sparta Prague embarrassed us 4-1 at home he should of resigned the morning after.

Judging by comments made recently by Dermot and others, it would seem that our very own Ange was in the running when Lennon got the job full time.

Now hindsight is a lovely thing, but how the * did we have a CV like Ange (pre-Japan) having won numerous trophies, and we patched him for Lennon, a guy who failed at Bolton and Hibs for * sake.

When Lennon says he’s spoke to Ange on numerous occasions i can’t help but think it’s to try and control the narrative, last thing he wants is another manager coming out and highlighting the * show that he was in charge of.

Lennon probably could do with not talking about Celtic for a while, I will acknowledge that but I really don't get the reaction to this interview. He conceded he probably could have done better, he acknowledges he would have made different decisions, he acknowledges he might have changed his approach, he acknowledges recruitment wasn't good enough, he acknowledges his pride his hurt and he is speaking up Ange. Is he right in having a pop at his old team mates, no probably not but he is just being honest in how he feels about that situation.

In this interview he has been asked question about his time at Celtic and he has answered the questions - it's cringe watching many on here lapping it up as another opportunity to say I told you so. We get it, you didn't want Lennon, you don't like Lennon, you don't want to hear from Lennon - so just don't watch his interviews or acknowledge it then.

I get what you're saying but you can see why they went for the safe option. Ange was an unknown and folk would have lost their * at appointing an unknown to go for 10 in a row. Lennon, Covid, No fans etc everything that could go wrong last season did. * it what's done is done now.

Very very debatable whether Lennon could be described as a safe option.

His drinking and unprofessionalism were very well known - ffs within weeks of him getting the job there were crumpled up pieces of paper with signing targets on them just lying about Lennoxtown.

You're right that appointing Ange after Rodgers left might have left a few people saying 'who's this guy?' but I think there would have been an appreciation for trying to get a manager who matched the Rodgers' blueprint. Professional, dedicated, committed to attractive fast-paced football.

Instead we did a complete 180 and entrusted 10iar to a guy with a dinosaur philosophy who had previously blown the league under pressure and who had erratic spells at Bolton and Hibs. There was nothing clever or even "safe" about giving Lennon the job. It was an entirely foreseeable disaster. While Lennon is gone thankfully, it's still a major worry that the incompetents who appointed him (Lawwell aside) are still in place.

Safe was probably the wrong word, I meant they knew what they were getting with Lennon because he'd been there before.

Yes but isn't that precisely why he shouldn't have got the job?

Even if you ignore the off field and behind the scenes carry-on, there were a number of unacceptable on the field embarrassments during his first term. Some were absolutely horrific. I find it astonishing someone like that would be entrusted with the biggest goal in our modern history.
