There's deadwood at every club in the world. That's the nature of the game. Unless you go back to times when squads ran with 18 players then there will always be deadwood hanging about. Par for the course.

I don't think he is deadwood tho. He's shown previously he's capable to fill in. Every squad needs players like that. Chucked on at RB after months of no game time in a team playing pretty crap isn't really fair to judge him on imo.

I agree. Seen plenty getting the benefit of the doubt when played out of position under much better circumstances than last Sunday.

And come next Sunday he might still be getting called upon under difficult circumstances.

He was rotten mate, gave the ball away constantly and everything went down his side - that wasn't a coincidence

Rb or cb makes no difference. His performance at rb wasn't any worse than most of his performances at cb.

He's not good enough and in evidence he never will be. He costs goals every time he plays. Should be punted

If we want to do better in Europe we need better than Welsh and the amount of deadwood at the club needs sorted in the summer and the depth of squad still not strong enough as we had to bring on Welsh at right back and where the * was biton and scales on Sunday .

He’s not going to be punted, we need so many home grown players for Europe.

He is good enough for back up.

He has had plenty of good performances so there is a player in there, how good that player is antibodies Tues, but he does make mistakes and has a few in him, as does Starfelt when under pressure until.he settles into a game. But if Welsh is not playing then he doesn't learn therefor when he plays he makes the same mistakes, Sunday was an example of that. I think he may be another Mikey Johnson, full of promise but stagnates and will fail to read his full potential.

    Who qualifies for this ?

    Taylor
    McGregor
    Welsh
    Johnstone
    Dembele
    Bain
    Turnbull
    Forrest

Never thought of that, when you look at punting players. Would need to be looking at the SPFL to replace some of them.

There is home grown and players trained by the club as well.

Think we need to register 8 or so maybe more I can’t remember.

Edit - I think it’s 4 club trained players and 4 home grown from the country/league.

For this year it would include a few more too:
    Ralston
    Hazard
    Murray
    Montgomery

Dembele, Doak, Dawson all appeared this season as well

I think there’s another random one as well but can’t remember for the life of me, and might actually be thinking of Dawson when I’m trying to remember as well.

Not the one I was thinking of but Mikey Johnstone

EDIT: think I’m having a diff convo here, is it players through the youths that’s played this season or just counts as home grown?

Ŕeally was one of his biggest supporters after having to come in a do a job next to donkeys like Duffy and the * show of last season.

Unfortunately though it seems he's in the type of bracket of Ralson and Taylor, good guys, who will always try their all for the shirt but perhaps just aren't at a level that is required consistently over multiple seasons for Celtic.

Taylor is also good enough to be back up. He's been really good the last few weeks. We do need a left back in the mould of JJ in the summer, no doubt about it but I would be happy for Taylor and Ralston to be back up. I'm happy enough with Welsh but I think with his age, he needs to play and I would loan him out to a Hibs or Aberdeen next year. He will play there no problem.

When I think of deadwood at the club I think of Barkas, Boli, Soro, McCarthy and Ajeti. They're the main ones for me. Probably picking up good cash and offering * all. I think we will see Rogic and Forrest faded out next year and will probably be their final years(think both are out of contract in 2023 and they shouldn't be renewed)

If we wanted to sell a player this year while the going is good and they're off the back of a decent year. One we could easily afford to lose but could net us some good cash? I'd sell Turnbull. Think you could get £8m for him no bother. I like him but I think we are covered in the area just now. He's also similar to both Tam and O'Riley. Excellent ball players but none of them can run for * let's be honest. I know we were linked with the young attacking midfielder from Bayern Munich. I'd buy him and sell Turnbull so that we have a different option in that position.

The likes of Robertson, Shaw, Urgohide, Dembele, Johnstone... I just can't see them making it here. Loan out again or move on. I know Urgohide has an option to buy in his deal with Oostende. They're keen to buy him, just sell him for a good bit of profit.

Big Julien.... just can't see him coming back now. Think if he can chip in with a few games that's great but he's barely played at all. Liam Scales, probably would have put him in with the deadwood but I doubt he's taking a large weekly wage like the others.

It's murder these days trying to get rid of players who are not contributing and picking up big wages

Conversation started about home grown players for Europe so unclear either way I'd say :39:.

Both, either, or neither to your question. This I'm at least certain of :50:
