The 18year old Left winger for braga that roasted Tavernier, Rodriguez? What a player that boy looks he's been plugged into the same charger as our Maeda.

Jean Onana could be available if/when Bordeaux get relegated with the financial troubles they’ve had as well.

He would be a cracking signing for our midfield as a different option particularly in Europe. A real physical presence who can still play.

Was looking at those who are out of contract this year so including summer and end of the year for the Scandinavian leagues and picked out an XI of players in our current formation who could be a useful addition to what we have in the team already.

This was based on their playing style and likelihood they would be attainable so obviously no Mbappé, Kessie, Rudiger etc. Also in no way am I suggesting to sign all of them but if we want to buy CCV and Jota 2 or 3 from the list in other key positions could ensure we have a full squad while remaining in our budget.

GK Nikita Haikin, 26, Bodo Glimt (December 22 expiry)
RB Alfons Sampstead, 23, Bodo Glimt (December 22 expiry)
LB Rafa Soares, 27, Vit. Guimaraes
    CB Haret Ortega, 21, Toluca
    CB Yoann Barbet, 28, QPR
    DCM Riechedly Bazoer, 25, Vitesse
CM Magnus Kofod Andersen, 23, Nordsjaelland
    CM John Swift, 26, Reading
    LW Cyle Larin, 26, Besiktas
RW Ola Solbakken, 23, Bodo/Glimt (December Expiry)
    ST Danilo Pereira, 23, Ajax

There were a couple of tough choices in there with notable mentions to RB, James Bree, 24 Luton; LB Mihailo Ristic, 26, Montpellier who may be a better option than Soares; LW Arnaud Nordin, 23, St Etienne, ST, and Dany Mota 23, Monza.

Might be in the minority but think we could get better than Solbakken..

Decent player but quite predictable and a diving * as well..

I think there is no doubt there are better players out there but not sure when you consider everything as a whole there is a lot better deals.

What I mean by that is if we were to buy Jota which would be a considerable investment, Jota, Maeda and Abada as good options for the wide positions, Forrest is really struggling as is Johnston so we have a space for another winger.

Solbakken’s profile is very different to what we have already, he is tall and strong, Maeda is physical in his work rate and pressures but not big. He is also a left footed player which none of the others are. He’s versatile in that he can play either side and has a good work rate as the full Bodo/Glimt team had. He is also very fast which could come in handy in European football.

If we were to be paying £6-6.5m for Jota and £6m for CCV, picking up another forward to complete our front line options for sub £2m wouldn’t be bad business and allow us to still invest in a left back, a CDM and or CB.

We all know how our board work and they won’t splash out large sums to strengthen the squad across the board so we will be no doubt needing to prioritise. In fact it wouldn’t surprise me if we splash out on CCV and Jota if any other purchases were modest.

No I hear what you're saying. Would just like someone with more guile as a lefty on that side..

Solbakken seems pretty sound and prolific coming in on his left but doesn't seem that special to me..

Think Ange will have better up his sleeve..

Can't wait to see the kinda quality he'll be looking at as game changers over a few position's come the summer with more money to spend..

Still think we should try and get Nikita Khaikin from Bodo tbh. Was superb playing out from the back and looks a very capable shot stopper.

Someone I thought would be out our reach but may be worth going for is Williot Swedberg of Hammarby. Apparently he had a deal lined up for €3.5m to Lokomotiv Moscow but the war has put pain to that.

Swedberg is only 18 but is a big and physically and technically impressive player. He is not far off a young Halaand at Molde level talent. He can play CM, AM or has been deployed off the left wing as well this season so is versatile across a few positions. Hammarby play a high pressing game under their manager so he is used to the style.

If we signed him I think it would be like Haaland at Salzburg where you get a season or so out him then make a big profit on him. If we win the league we have a lot to offer a player like Swedberg again.

Hammarby’s left back Mohanad Jeahze is also worth a look, very quick and good on the ball.

Had to suffer the slow pace of a few J2 league games for this but...

    Motoki Hasegawa
    23
    Ventforet Kofu (J2)
Center mid (can play on left or right of it)

More one to keep tabs on the now but he'll likely follow a Kyogo-esque career progression into the J League then possibly Europe. He's a stand out in his team.

Two guys I hope we cast our eye over when looking at Matt O’Riley from MK Dons are their centre back Harry Darling, who is a physically dominant defender who also is strong on the ball and has a good range of passing. He is also a big threat at set plays having netted 5 goals this season from them. He’s only 22 as well and has only a year left on his deal come the summer.

The other is Scott Twine, who is also only 22 and just stepped up from Swindon this season but what a season he is having with 16 goals and 13 assists in 41 games so far. His goals also include some absolutely top drawer free kicks and strikes from distance. He has played as a Left winger in a front 3 an 8 in a 5-3-2, a second striker/10 on occasion too. Some of his you tube goals highlights are well worth a look.

Scott Twine is a good shout, but I suspect he'll cost a lot more than O'Riley did. Could be a good replacement for Forrest, as we need another winger in the summer.

Agree he’s a good shout, but he’s not your typical winger like Jota, Forest or Abada. He’s not going to dribble past a player and is more like O’Riley, but would need to up his defensive work if he was to play in one of our midfield positions.

MK were playing a fluid system last night, at times a 352, at other times a 343 and also a 541 where he defended further forward on the left in the front 3 but dropped deeper into the 4. Didn’t really see him press except late in the game while they were chasing. If he was to play here or at a higher level than league 1 then he’d want to up his energy and his ability to break up play.

Derby relegated today, I'd be glad out for Jason knight, a box to box midfielder who is tenacious, mobile and very technically good.

They have a few good young guys playing for them, Max Bird is another good technically gifted centre mid that featured on the EFL 21 under 21 to watch.

I would have like Feisty Ebosele but he’s agreed to go to Udinese, has a real physicality about him for only being 19.

Also not long back from a long lay off Kristian Bielik who is still only 24 is a very decent midfield anchor.

With Barnsley also being away I wonder if we may get linked to Callum Styles again?

Some good talent in that league and at the top of league 1 worth a look.

A couple of Irish guys who I wondered if our Irish contingent could give a view on were
Ogbene at Rotherham and Luke McNally at Oxford both seem pretty highly rated?

That young Anthony Gordon from Everton is excellent. If they avoid relegation you’d imagine they will significantly strengthen in the summer and he might become available.
