Celtic ties/relations in Europe

What club would you say Celtic has closest ties with in Europe? Given we can go anywhere and be welcomed with open arms, who do you feel is the closest in terms of respect/friendship?

I ask because now that the other lot are no longer going to be travelling, this gives us the chance to show everyone just how far away we are from them in terms of fan behaviour. Though Seville already showed them that.

Would say Barcelona is a good shout. And Port- wait never mind them :icon_mrgreen:

why are we so obsessed about other teams liking us?. remember barcelona last year they enjoyed playing in celtic park. we should be intimidatin teams especially at home

i would say in terms of club relations we are close to AC Milan and Barca. which is nice considering they are in top leagues and are world class clubs.

in terms of fan relations its Benfica and Villareal. in 2006 CL group stages, a couple of our fans gave tribute to one of their players who died on the pitch in 2002. we gave them an 8m banner that said "you'll never walk alone" in Portuguese to use in their home games. as for Villareal, some of their fans started up a Celtic Supporters Club after our encounter with them in the UEFA cup a couple of years ago.

Barca the obvious choice, Villareal (did there not used to be one on this forum?), Betis because of the Seville element I would think and a few of the Tic fans were jumping bout with Betis tops on.

 

Forgot to post this story on here.. when our school went on a trip to Germany last year, we went to see St Pauli match wearing all our Celtic gear and stood in the ultras section in the pouring rain with no roof over that stand.. we all took our tops off and gave them to some of the fans and they gave us their tops and because I was the smallest person there, I spent most of the game crowd-surfing lol.. the atmosphere was electric and it was the first time I'd heard that we love you song...

Seville. The team & the people.

Proof-On the satuardy after seville won the eufa cup at Hampden I dropped my son off at Seville airport, suddenly the seville team walk in to the hall to fly out to their next away game, nobody seemed to bother, but I could not resist calling out CAMPIONES real loud, this resulted in the whole team coming over shaking my hand and touching the distorted shamrock on my chest as they thanked me and all celtic fans for our support. I then left and when I got outside the Real Madrid coach was there waiting to pick up the team who had just landed, this was surrounded by lots of seville fans who had just returned from Glasgow, but all of a sudden when they saw my hoops my wife was pushed aside as they surrounded me and were fighting to shake both my hand and all screaming celtic,celtic, then out comes Madrid, the look on their faces was priceless wondering who was the celebrity in the hoops.
Made me even more proud than ever to be accepted as a celtic fan.
