In those last few moments before the Celtic players leave the dressing-room and head out on to the pitch, a hush descents upon the room as they wait to hear from the manager.

They know his words are important – he does too, while he also wants them to be inspiring, and for his team to take his message out with them because once the game kicks off, it is the players who have to carry out his instructions.

Ange Postecoglou’s words to the Celtic team in the Hampden dressing-room before the League Cup final against Hibernian back in December were clear, concise and completely inspirational.

The manager said: “All right boys, my message is the same here, don’t play the occasion, nothing changes, okay.

“The basic principles of our game – that’s what got us here, and that’s what’ll get us further - the things we can control. Don’t let any chaos out there derail from what we’re all about. That’s the most important thing.

“Just think about how we’ve overcome. It hasn’t been by changing our approach. It hasn’t been from veering from what we’re good at and what we believe in most of all

“As I’ve said to you before, whatever challenges or obstacles are thrown at us today, we can get through them by sticking to our beliefs. Smash through it.

You walk out there today, boys, feeling 10 feet tall – you know why? Because you’re wearing a shirt and you’re representing a club that’s achieved the greatest of achievements and you stand on the shoulders of the players who have achieved all of that before you.

“So you walk out there feeling invincible – 10 feet tall – and at the end of the game, when Cal lifts up the trophy, and you walk back in here, you’re going to be a little bit taller because you’ll be standing on what you created, on what you did, and you’ll have added to this football club.”

Celtic went on to beat Hibernian 2-1, courtesy of two stunning strikes from Kyogo, captain Callum McGregor lifted the trophy at the end of the game in front of a jubilant Celtic support, and the team had won their first trophy under Ange Postecoglou.

And the players returned to the dressing-room that little bit taller and already looking forward to the next challenge and targeting the next trophy.

    WE. NEVER. STOP.

I’m desperate for Ange to create a legacy at Celtic and We Never Stop becomes an eternal Celtic slogan. Let’s get this * treble. * the queen. * the British army. * the Union.

Shivers up the spine with that. Would love to hear more of his team talks but I do like that it's kept behind closed doors. More of the same on Sunday please, big man.

Tbf, the job last season must’ve been horrendous. Talk about trying to polish a *.

I think they eventually just gave up and did the occasional ‘happy birthday’ message for players.

Ange Postecoglou has completed a hat-trick of Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Month awards, by being awarded the March 2022 trophy.

The latest award – the Celtic manager’s fourth of the 2021/22 season – comes after an impressive run of results last month which saw the Hoops beat St Mirren 2-0 at home, then defeat Livingston 3-1 at the Tony Macaroni Arena before recording a 4-0 home win over Ross County in the last league fixture before the international break.

Those results maintained the three-point lead at the top of the Premiership table going into this weekend’s Glasgow derby clash at Ibrox.

And in March, Celtic also booked their place in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup with a 3-0 win over Dundee United at Tannadice.

Ange Postecoglou said: “It’s nice to receive this award so quickly again but is testament to our whole group and, of course, the consistency and commitment they have shown.

'And by the whole group, I mean everyone at the club – players, all staff and my backroom team who have all worked so hard to deliver such positive results and performances.'

“It goes without saying that our fans have also played a key role in delivering this consistency through the magnificent support we have received throughout.”

Colin Matthews, CEO of Glen’s owner, the Loch Lomond Group, said: “Celtic’s form since the beginning of this year has been hugely impressive, with 10 wins and just the one draw in their 11 Premiership matches, and there is no doubt Ange Postecoglou and his coaching staff will be delighted to have gone into the international break three points ahead at the top of the table.

“They are scoring goals freely, as well as winning matches at grounds where they have had a poor record in recent times, as the win at Livingston highlights, so there is no doubt that Ange Postecoglou is a worthy winner of the Glen’s Manager of the Month award for March.

“A hat-trick of monthly awards is rare in this competition, but it does highlight the run of form Celtic are having at the moment as well as the continued positive impact Ange Postecoglou is having at Celtic Park, and so for the fourth time this season, congratulations to him and his team.”
